Crisis of Confidence by Carl R. Trueman
Requirements: .MP3 reader, 224MB
Overview: Carl Trueman Analyzes How Ancient Creeds and Confessions Protect and Promote Biblical Christianity in a Culture of Expressive Individualism

Historic statements of faith—such as the Heidelberg Catechism, the Apostles’ Creed, and the Westminster Confession of Faith—have helped the Christian church articulate and adhere to God’s truth for centuries. However, many modern evangelicals reject these historic documents and the practices of catechesis, proclaiming their commitment to “no creed but the Bible.” And yet, in today’s rapidly changing culture, ancient liturgical tradition is not only biblical—it’s essential.

In Crisis of Confidence, Carl Trueman analyzes how creeds and confessions can help the Christian church navigate modern concerns, particularly around the fraught issue of identity. He contends that statements of faith promote humility, moral structure, and a godly view of personhood, helping believers maintain a strong foundation amid a culture in crisis. This is a revised edition of Trueman’s The Creedal Imperative, now with a new section on the rise of expressive individualism.

Updated Edition of The Creedal Imperative: Includes fresh cultural insights on modern individualism

Written by Carl Trueman: Author of The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self (100,000+ copies sold)

Theological and Historical: Explains why creeds and confessions are necessary, how they have developed over time, and how they can function in the church of today and tomorrow

Ideal for Pastors, Professors, and Those Interested in Liturgical Tradition

The Long Shot by Kate Bingham, Tim Hames
Requirements: .MP3 reader, 317MB
Overview: On 3 April 2020, Kate Bingham was told that the likelihood of any Covid-19 vaccine working was 15% at best. But on 8 December 2020, the first NHS patient received a vaccine. Now nearly every adult in Britain has had a jab, lockdowns have ended and we can finally live with Covid. What lies behind this staggering success story?

From a small cottage, Bingham juggled vaccine suppliers, Whitehall, the media circus–and her daughter's exams. Political manoeuvring, miscommunications and administrative meddling nearly jeopardised the project. But perseverance paid off.

Catapulted into a national crisis, Bingham's eclectic team secured the first vaccine doses administered in the West and saved thousands of lives in the UK as new variants struck. This is an unmissable insider view into how the Vaccine Taskforce beat the odds and delivered the scientific miracle we all waited for.

Martyrs of Henry VIII: Repression, Defiance, Sacrifice by John Matusiak
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 5 mb
Overview: Tudor England was a place of religious upheaval and uncertainty, as the Catholic church was replaced by the Church of England, with Henry VIII at its head. When Henry VIII passed through Canterbury in 1532, a young woman named Elizabeth Barton, known as the Holy Maid of Kent and widely revered as a visionary, warned him that he was 'so abominable in the sight of God that he was not worthy to tread on hallowed ground'. Two years later she was executed as an enemy of the state, but she would not be the last to be punished for her faith – the summer of 1535 would see many others suffer the same fate.

On 14 June 1535, Carthusian monk Sebastian Newdigate was dragged to Tyburn and hanged, drawn and quartered for his continued loyalty to the Catholic faith. On 22 June 1535, John Fisher was beheaded on Tower Hill for upholding the Roman Catholic Church's doctrine of papal supremacy. On 6 July 1535, former Chancellor of England Sir Thomas More was executed for refusing to acknowledge Henry VIII as the Supreme Head of the Church. All three were recognised as martyrs and beatified by the Catholic church in 1886, with Sir Thomas More and John Fisher recognised as saints. In Martyrs of Henry VIII, John Matusiak brings the lives of these Catholic martyrs together in a joint biography that opens a window into one of the most dangerous periods of England's religious history.

Programming with C++20: Concepts, Coroutines, Ranges, and more, 2nd Edition (2024-02-06) by Andreas Fertig
Requirements: .ePUB, .PDF reader, 10 MB
Overview: Programming with C++20 teaches programmers with C++ experience the new features of C++20 and how to apply them. It does so by assuming C++11 knowledge. Elements of the standards between C++11 and C++20 will be briefly introduced, if necessary. However, the focus is on teaching the features of C++20. You will start with learning about the so-called big four Concepts, Coroutines, std::ranges, and modules. The big four are followed by smaller yet not less important features. You will learn about std::format, the new way to format a string in C++. In Chapter 6, you will learn about a new operator, the so-called spaceship operator, which makes you write less code. You then will look at various language improvements, ensuring more consistency and reducing surprises. Templates have been with C++ since the early beginnings. Recent standard updates have added new facilities, such as variadic templates. Templates enable Generic Programming (GP), the idea of abstracting concrete algorithms to get generic algorithms. They can then be combined and used with different types to produce a wide variety of software without providing a dedicated algorithm for each type. GP or Template Meta-Programming (TMP) are powerful tools. For example, the Standard Template Library (STL) heavily uses them.
