Another World: A Science Fiction Anthology by Gardner Dozois (Editor)
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 0.7MB
Overview: A collection of science fiction classics edited and introduced by the winner of fifteen Hugo awards for best editor, Gardner Dozois.
From the introduction:
Here is life on another world, in another place, another time. Here is what it is like to wear an alien skin. Here are new concepts, new vistas, magic. . . "Why read science fiction?" It's alive in a world of dead art, dead minds, dead institutions; it's a bright-eyed, irreverent little animal scurrying through a petrified landscape of old dead trees; it's unashamedly potent and prolific in a world that grows increasingly weary and sterile; it dares to raise its voice in boisterous joy, sorrow, and anger in a place full of sour silence and dead echoes.

"A fine idea for an anthology – 'adventures in otherness' is really what SF is all about, isn't it? – and the stories . . . are a very neat mixture of themes and literary methods, and of course a bunch of very fine examples of first-class narrative prose . . .an artful and elegant group, intelligently chosen."—Robert Silverberg

The Red Mist Trilogy: The Box Set by R T Green
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 1.25MB
Overview: Welcome to the unexpected!
I guess if it came down to summing up my work in one sentence, Kate Winslet said it best... "You don't choose who you fall in love with, do you?"
Those words are oh so true. I write love stories, but always with a hint of the unusual. Ok, perhaps more than a hint, much of the time! I weave those love stories into plots that are often many-layered, which I try to craft into good storytelling. I like to create something different, so you will never find a regular romance novel on my shelf... and quite frankly, there are a whole lot of brilliant writers out there who do that kind of thing way better than I would. So if you enjoy a love story with an equally-important fast-paced (and often epic!) plot wrapped around it, then my books may appeal to you. If you're unsure, well... all I can ask is you give me a try. I may just surprise you!

AI Superpowers: China, Silicon Valley, and the New World Order by Kai-Fu Lee
Requirements: .MP3 reader, 232mb
Overview: Dr. Kai-Fu Lee - one of the world’s most respected experts on AI and China - reveals that China has suddenly caught up to the US at an astonishingly rapid and unexpected pace.

In AI Superpowers, Kai-fu Lee argues powerfully that because of these unprecedented developments in AI, dramatic changes will be happening much sooner than many of us expected. Indeed, as the US-Sino AI competition begins to heat up, Lee urges the US and China to both accept and to embrace the great responsibilities that come with significant technological power. Most experts already say that AI will have a devastating impact on blue-collar jobs. But Lee predicts that Chinese and American AI will have a strong impact on white-collar jobs as well. Is universal basic income the solution? In Lee’s opinion, probably not. But he provides a clear description of which jobs will be affected and how soon, which jobs can be enhanced with AI, and most importantly, how we can provide solutions to some of the most profound changes in human history that are coming soon.

South California Purples (Ty Dawson, #1) by Baron R. Birtcher / Narrated by Dan John Miller
Requirements: .MP3 player, 166 mb
Overview: The year is 1973, and the last of America's soldiers are returning home from Vietnam, often shouted down and spat upon by protesters, while the first toxic cracks of public mistrust have begun to appear at the highest levels of government. The American Indian Movement has entered into a bloody occupation of Wounded Knee, gas shortages have pushed the economy into deep recession, and violent civil unrest is captured in living color and televised nightly on the evening news. But rural Meriwether County, tucked away amid the sweeping river valleys and serrated mountain ridges of southern Oregon, has been left largely untouched by time--until now. Cattle rancher Ty Dawson, a complex man tormented by elements of his own past, is involuntarily conscripted to assist local law enforcement when a herd of wild mustangs is rounded up and corralled in anticipation of a government auction, igniting the passions of political activist Teresa Pineu, who threatens to fan the flames of an uprising that grows rapidly out of control. As the past collides with the present and hostility escalates into brutality and bloodshed, Ty is drawn into a complex web of predatory alliances and corruption where he must choose to stand and fight or watch as the last remnants of the American West are consumed in a lawless conflagration of avarice and cruelty.Set against the rugged backdrop of Oregon's vast ranch lands, South California Purples is a novel of loyalty, passion, and murder, as seen through the eyes of a cast of unforgettable characters and crafted with lyrical prose and dialogue. It is the first in a new series that weaves together the sometimes poignant, often violent, strains of the 1970s and the human costs of a nation in transition.
