Get a premium account from Mobilism, it will let you download directly from practically any release.

I signed up with http://filevelocity.com. First impression, it almost looks like a re-born FS. They say that if you provide proof of history with previous hosts, send email to support and will give away free Premium account. Still waiting for a response, hopefully they were just away for the weekend.
EDIT: They upgraded my account to Premium for free.

I sent an email also. I would be ELATED if they gave me a premium account. We shall see what happens.

I did too, so far no response.

Kind of self-contradictory messages here!

That first one is what some Mods are telling those WHO DO post in the topic (at least for the time being until the dust has a chance to settle!). :D

I have a "Platinum" account.... and I have found the post with instructions to use the program.

HELP ! when I try to use the program, it asks for my user name and password. I try to sign in and it blinks and takes me back to the sign-in screen.

Is there a different user name and password other than what I use to sign into Mobilism ?

Thanks.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion!

This is NOT an opinion. It is a FACT.

Now we are seeing posters using some of the dregs of the file-server world. And the worst of the app posters are only posting to one of these scammy sites with no mirror at all. It is the FileSonic nonsense all over again.

Extrabit sends you around in endless circles until you either pay them or give up.

UpLoading tells you there are no free 'slots' left to force you to pay them (just like Filesonic used to do).

And that is just two of the crud-sites I could mention. There are lots being used that are just as bad.

I have tried to download three apps today and gave up on all of them because the cruddy servers wouldn't let me have the files. :(

What I don't understand is why posters EVEN BOTHER to go to the trouble to post stuff when nobody can get a working link! The only logical explanation is that this is an emergence of 'The Fiilesonic Scam' all over again? (You know the sordid story - the poster gets money when you cannot download his posts for free so you are forced to buy a Filesonic account.)

As a developer I have been releasing my own (free) apps on Mobilism for years before it was even renamed Mobilism. But recently (since the Filesonic Scam started in the Android forum) I have been finding this site impossible to get any use out of. I know I am not the only person who is getting frustrated by this nonsense over scammy file servers and the posters who consistently use them for personal gain. And we know who they are :?

Isn't it about time the moderators on this site got together and made a policy on posting and which sites are preferable?

after the odd comment by a mod or two it feels like unless money could be made then leave the app posters to do what they wish as the more apps the possiblity of more people buy premium mobilism accounts to get round the filehost issues... THIS IS THE WRONG WAY TOO GO!!!!

Maybe there is a link with the current DNS issue ?

Why not just use yousendit? Too limiting due to 7 days or 25 downloads only I guess? Then people who have downloaded can upload the files again. Being one of the pillar and originals of file sharing, I find them easy and reliable, no need to wait sh***y seconds nor answer sh***y captchas. Just plain old, download and you have it! Life is simple if people also gives not just takes.

I have to agree with about everything you said in the original post (edited it out so it wasn't a huge quote). Me, I simply find other sites that have a direct download link and upload it to free hosting site with no catch to it Recently I've been using http://jumbofiles.com/. It is such an amazing site with free upload storage of 500GB's and limit of 1GB per uploaded file. not to shabby to support the community with real links. ;)

Where did you see that free upgrade? I can't find it on their site.

Upload to Usenet en encrypt with a password.
You can use WinRAR for that and MultiPAR for PAR2 files.
You can place the filename in the post.
Some commercial usenetprovider have a retention of 1200 days.
