Good lord. Why don't YOU update it NOW?

People who are commenting about "embedding direct deploying into the application":

DevUnlock actually allows only to deploy XAP files from external sources.
It doesn't give more privileges.

So we (DFT) developed "FullUnlock". FullUnlock is implemented as replacing some system files by wrappers, which allows any kind of access (disable access checking at all)

We replace LVMOD.DLL which used to check files and data (checksums, certificates and etc) and POLICYENGINE.DLL which implements internal objects access checking.

All written before means that FullUnlock at the current moment only possible by flashing custom ROM to device. In future maybe we can find good ways to do it without flashing, but for now I don't see any ideas how to do it without flashing.

Maybe we can replace DLLs inside \Windows\ directory (put a shadow copy), but I am not sure if it will work really. It's stuffs for future experiments.

It can be possible to do something near by editing policy values, but it need big research to find right way. As it still won't disable file checking, maybe we can add own certificate to right store and then sign files with them.

The last DFT 7720 MANGO ROMs contains FullUnlock, but it doesn't work as expected :( there few issues. as well some users got issues with debugging on those ROMs and etc. We will continue work under it ;)

Short: It can't be done without flashing a custom ROM to the device, which has this FullUnlock. There is only one ROM which features FullUnlock, it's DFT's Freedom ROM which is available only for the first generation HTC devices.

So please stop commenting about this. If there'd be a proper solution, we'd have been already implemented it.

Why not just add links to the files in the app. I would assume wouldnt be that hard. Though Im not familiar at all with programming. Just a slide to the side and have a links tab.

If Im not mistaken the link would open by default in IE, go through the links in IE(not in the app anymore), when done, go into taskmanager and go back into the mobilism app.

Regardless in order to be able to install you would have to have flashed DFT's rom. But even if you didnt it would take you through it and just give an error that the is no file association. Then when DFT releases hspl for 2nd gen. and eventually implementing the same on device XAP install through IE as 1st gen, the mobilism app would already work since it would do the same thing, Just opening a link in IE. Ive done it a few times using IE directly but it would be cool to use the app to browse.

The app does only need to supply IE with the url to the XAP and it will download and install it without any problems as long as the rom has DFT XAP Installer, and there might be quite some roms soon since they've started to give permission to post roms with it from other chefs (ex pdaimatejam wp7.5 7740 v4 for htc hd2)

so the only change in the app is to allow the user to navigate to the download url. The download and install process does not have to be implemented in the app at all.

The new DFT Mango custom ROMs for HTC devices allow direct installation of .xaps from the web browser. Since AFAIK this is currently the only way to get fully unlocked Mango, it might be an idea to support this for installation via Mobilism Market!

I'm not even running a custom rom...YET, thanks to them supporting CDMA phones finally...but, No rom yet for me.

Why not make 2 versions of the software, one with Dev unlock and one for Full unlock/DFT rom (for direct downloads of xaps). ??

Or make one that supports both but, dev unlocked users just can't use all the features, like
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1383648

If it's a simple link to change for software that can support this, it would make everyone happy..

Thoughts ?

I think you are right. A couple of devices (all htc and samsung 1st gen devices and it will become more) can install custom roms yet.
Why dont release a new version which makes it possible to use this great feature?

Now, thanks to XapHandler and WP7 Root Tools, everyone can install WP7 apps directly on the phone. So it would be really useful to have a XAP link!

Almost every first gen device has a custom rom now. In fact, I am typing this on a Verizon trophy(the last device anyone would think will get a custom rom for) that I installed a custom rom on and installed this app right from my devices browser. And there is about 2-3 different custom roms for this device to chose from.

Its about time you create an app for people with full unlocked WP7 devices. Direct downloads would be nice. Or at least update it so it looks as nice as the Android one...

Thanks for having it but, the look of the stars is getting old...

Bump, yes, I am thankful you have an app but, can we please get an update ?

We need an update one for fully unlocked phones (now that almost every 1st gen has a full unlock or custom rom, it is accessable for almost everyone), we need one with links so we can download apps on our phone...

If there's no update on this soon I might be able to create a new app, but I would need access to the API.
Any info about that?
