I loved big little lies adaptation actually but there were so many things added by the show's writers that were not in the book themselves, I found that very frustrating after eventually reading the book.
also, there's worse adaptations but not much is coming to mind

I really enjoyed Truman Capote's novella 'Breakfast at Tiffany's and the quirky Holly Golightly. The story written over 50 years ago was way ahead of its time. The film with the elegant Audrey Hepburn in the lead is a classic and a great movie, but not a good adaptation of the book. With so many remakes currently coming out of Hollywood perhaps someone will take this one on. If you haven't read the book or haven't read it recently, I would recommend that you put it in your 'stack'. At only about 100 pages it is a quick read.

Mine's kind of the opposite. I saw the movie "The Witches of Eastwick" and just had to read the book. It was so, so bad!
