Suggestions for recent reads, fiction or non-fiction!

 

I'm reading Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, Vampire a Go-Go and The Lucky One at the moment. I'm enjoying all three. I just finished We are Anonymous, What a Boy Wants, Being George Washington, and The First American.

I'd recommend all 7 actually.

Just finished Redshirts. Very nice read. The Innocents. David Baldacci redeemed himself. 1000 Years of Annoying the French, Stephen Clarke. Extremely well researched and as close to the facts as possible when trying to leave a little room for the puns. Feed. One hell of a book. Forget that zombies are involved here. This is not a zombie book. It's a nice crossover of horror, SciFi, thriller, action and drama. Elizabeth The Queen, Sally Bedel. Quite an amazing woman, that one. In the middle of Caliban's War, James S A Corey. Very entertaining.

And a couple more in the Mech and Frontiers Sagas. Also some Jeffrey Archer, Simon Kernick, Karen Traviss, Douglas Adams Kim Stanley Robinson and a Stalin biography.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is interesting. Pride & Prejudice and Zombies... that may take some time to read. Has anybody read Unholy Night yet?

I am enjoying Catherine Anderson's Coulter Series.

I used to like the serious stuff, but age has turned my brain to mush (privately I blame the residual effects of Calculus and Differential Equations from my college days and Miss Fish in high school).

Any recommendations for Anderson like authors?

Hmmmm, Robert Crais is off the chain good. There are a lot of good ones out there. Michael Koryta, John Hart, and a new find for me is Bryan Gruley. Those 3 are good up and comers. They have a few books out yes, but definitely keep your eye on them. Koryta has a new book coming out soon as well.

Just finished I, Michael Bennett, by James Patterson and the other guy. Have to say, when I got to the last page, I really thought that several chapters were missing. It just ended....no completion or resolution to the plot of the story. Anyone else get that impression, or am I missing something here?

A lot of people said the same thing about Stolen Prey by John Sandford as well. I even emailed the publisher to ask them (Penguin Group) and they said it was just fine and considered the matter closed (Kind of a snotty remark but at least it soothes the nerves of being incomplete)

I read "Bad Doctor" - John Locke, this weekend (it is here: viewtopic.php?f=121&t=353252&hilit=bad+doctor ). It was absolutely hilarious! When Doctor Gideon Box calls himself a bad doctor, as in vicious, foul-mouthed, murderous and vengefull, it must be the understatement of the year!

I generally don't like to read funny books, but the noir humour in this really made my day!

Currently reading: The Darlings by Cristina Alger. Pretty good so far.

Just finished Panic by Jeff Abbott, moved fast, good writing, though jumped around a bit with different characters. False Accusations by Alan Jacobson was good. ( read it while waiting for Hard Target by Alan Jacobson to show up on the site hint hint......) False Accusations literally keeps you trying to figure out "whodunnit" up to the very last sentence so don't cheat and skip to the end! Just finished Deep Down by Lee Child, since it was about 30 some pages long after flipping past a half dozen pages of reviews and other "stuff". Not sure what to start next, would like to read 15 Seconds by Andrew Gross,(again with the HINT).... Would appreciate recommendations, gonna have knee surgery soon and will have LOTS of down time.....

Just finished The Last Man on Earth Club by Paul R. Hardy, it was really good.

Woo hoo. for the longest time ive been badgering my buddy to get me extreme denial by david morrell for the kindle, but he said he couldnt because it wasnt available, i always said to him your sister is a big shot in publishing biz, why cant she have them publish it?

after 6 months of teasing him guess what? he just got me a copy. i finally have all of my favorite authors books
