Overview: Born St.Helens, Lancashire in 1950. Attended Cowley Grammar School. Became an English teacher and taught in the North East of England for 35 years. He co-wrote a number of musicals including Shakespeare The Musical and The Journey (produced at the Millenium Dome in 2000). He enjoys history, visiting castles and reading historical novels. His first nine novels are all set in the 1st century AD in the northern half of England. He has also written a thriller, Carnage at Cannes as well as 9 Sword of Cartimandua novels.

1. Viking Slave: Vikings come raiding along the English coast in the eight century. A young boy and his mother are taken to a remote fjord. Forced to be the salve of an old warrior the young boy forms a bond. When he kills a wolf and saves the old man's life the boy wins his freedom. He fights for the freedom of his home until he and his step father are forced to leave their home and seek their fortune in the west. They have to fight the Saxons to build their new home. Based on historical events the story is the first in a series of books called Dragon Heart.

2. Viking Warrior: The Vikings on the Island of Man are set on revenge. Their families have been kidnapped and taken to Ireland. They have to find them and rescue them. They find themselves fighting not only Hibernian warriors but renegade Vikings too. The perpetrator of the act, Tadgh, escapes and a chase ensues. A fast moving book the story moves quickly to the land of the Angles as Dragon Heart seeks the treasure of Rheged.

3. Viking Jarl: The Dragon Heart has come of age and sets off with his Ulfheonar to fight the Saxons. A chance visit to a cave brings him face to face with his past and changes his life forever. Fighting both Saxons and Hibernians on land and on sea he and his warriors conquer the land of Anglesey. Before they can enjoy the fruits of victory they face an enemy from the past who returns to haunt them. This is a fast moving novel filled with action and battles evoking the time of the Vikings.

4. Viking Kingdom: Jarl Dragon Heart leaves the Isle of Man to go raiding. Beset by enemies both Viking and Saxon he has to rely on the Ulfheonar and his own skills to see him through the crisis. A harsh winter in the land of Rheged brings him face to face with his old enemy, the Wolf. All the while he is learning about his own ancestor, the Warlord of Rheged. The treachery of other Vikings who try to carve out kingdoms has Dragon Heart caught in the middle of their machinations. The novel concludes with a thrilling raid into the heart of Mercia where treachery nearly ends the life of the enigmatic Dragon Heart.

5. Viking Wolf: Jarl Dragon Heart has taken to the seas. With his wolf warriors he raids further afield than ever before as he seeks his destiny. He has to fight new enemies as well as treacherous former allies. The Norns weave their webs and the Vikings discover the Middle Sea and Africa before they find themselves at the court of Nikephoros 1, the Emperor of Byzantium. A vast moving novel filled with battles both at sea and on land as the Viking Wolf unleashes his pack on the world.

6. Viking War: The world of Dragon Heart is thrown into confusion when they become the target of their Viking brothers. Raiders come every direction to take what Dragon Heart and his people have built. This is the time of Viking fighting Viking for control of the land that will become England. A fast moving novel the action moves from Byzantium to London and then Orkney.

7. Viking Sword: Jarl Dragon Heart and his special sword prove to be magnets for every young warrior who wishes to make a name for himself. After three assassination attempts the Viking goes to Wessex where he helps Egbert, the King of Wessex fight off an invasion from Mercia backed by Danes from Jorvik .A fast moving book which moves from the Jorvik to London and back concluding in a cataclysmic battle back in the Isles of Man.

8. Viking Wrath: Dragon Heart's daughter and daughter in law had been kidnapped. He has to to search for them in the lands and the seas of his enemies. He faces enemies with magical powers as well as enemies who have castles which cannot be taken. In a fast moving story filled with battles at sea and on land our Viking hero has more twists and turns to contend with than he has encountered before. The story moves from the north to Cornwall, Wales and back to the north as Dragon Heart and hs men are stretched to the limit.

9. Viking Raid: Jarl Dragon Heart is set to trade and raid in the seas beyond the world he knows. He has to venture, with an ever decreasing number of oathsworn warriors, to face new and terrible enemies. When he finds himself betrayed from within and pressed on all sides by enemies he has to fight not only for his own life but for those whom he loves the most. Jarl Dragon Heart becomes embroiled in the politics and plots of greater kingdoms and Empires. The book is filled with both sea battles and land battles. The Vikings fight Franks, Vikings, Saxons and the Spanish as they fight for survival.

10. Viking Legend: Dragonheart must find the traitor, Magnus, who is still a threat to the harmony of his home. He journeys north to the wild islands and to the land of the Welsh but still his enemy evades him. Finding another link to his past the Jarl Dragonheart discovers the tomb of an ancient British Queen and his link to the mystical sword is strengthened. When he does find his enemy Magnus it is in the heart of a Saxon kingdom and he has to face his most difficult challenge yet. A fast paced novel it culminated in a fight for the Dragonheart's home.

11. Viking Vengeance: While Jarl Dragonheart raids the Empire his homeland is attacked. Taking his warriors he embarks on a war of revenge. He takes on the might of Wessex. When he discovers he has been betrayed he must search out the traitors and spies who hide behind smiling faces.

12. Viking Dragon: Jarl Dragonheart and his men raid Lundenwic and bring back a great amount of treasure but they also bring trouble. He incurs the hatred of a Danish clan who kidnap Aiden and seek to destroy the Jarl's home. During the rescue an even greater treasure is discovered and a link to the past. This fast moving novel culminates in a battle between the Kings of Mercia and Wessex with the handful of warriors who fight for the Viking Dragon.

13. VikingTreasure: The son of an old enemy plots the downfall of Jarl Dragonheart and not only his life but that of his family are threatened. Forced to fight off Norse, Danes, Franks and Frisians he and his warriors are stretched to their limit. When he hears of a great treasure, hidden in the heart of Neustria he boldly takes his war to the Franks. There he will repay their treachery and enrich himself in the process. This is a fast moving novel filled with battles on both land and sea.
