In 1970, he took his Catholic theology into the American courts as he defended his draft board raiding crime, re: the trials of the “Minnesota 8.” During and after serving time, he explored the dark, Shadow side of America.

The Bodywanderer: Luke, once Friar Alfred, leaves the monastic order of "The Brooders," whose communal dreaming maintains the mythic structure of reality. His task was to dream Genesis, but something eerie that makes him shudder drives him away. It's the 1960s and he is Black Ops in Vietnam; trained as an assassin. Three women: Rian, Sunflower and Laura upend his sexual identity and understanding of the feminine both mythically and intimately. Driven as he is, he joins raids on draft boards and is arrested. Instead of prison he is sent back to Nam to assassinate the country's Cardinal, who is himself a Brooder. Unless the Cardinal dies, the war will not end! Luke ends up in Southern California where he meets Laura, a highly skilled massage therapists who can read his life as she wanders his body—a bodywanderer! Attraction and repulsion are the rhythm to their struggle to become lovers, but together they begin to dream as beloveds and so counter the twisted male dreams of the monastic Brooders. Luke and Laura make present a mythic story—one that counters the biblical Adam and Eve story—that enables them to discover a deeply sensual and intimate embrace through which they become one.
The Hand: A Millennial Imagining: Why have so many believers—mainstream and fanatical—awaited the Millennium? The End of the World even some have tried to cause through a dream, usually religious, certainly mythical, fulfilling prophecy as they read it in sacred text. Luke Jennings left the Order of Strict Observance, called “The Brooders,” for like hens they sat each day in depthless meditation both protecting the truth about the Millennium and sustaining the lie that deluded others into believing that such would never come, that the world was without end. Amen. Yet, once on his journey to find his Beloved so would Luke discover that the one egg of truth that The Brooders did not want to hatch was the return, not of Christ or a higher ascended being but, of Her, She in the body of the women he met and with whom he “bodywandered” to tap into this fearsome Millennial truth. Behind the present world is “The Hand.” Of course, What Is, Is Not. But more awakening is, What Is Not, Is. Such insight transforms Luke and his Beloved.
