The small world they left never noticed them leaving and neither did its furry inhabitants. They never noticed that someone took their friends and mates. In their world when someone disappeared he was usually dead. And they never thought that those that were taken will represent their future.
On this world life continued like before and it stayed like that for almost a million years. The furry creatures that climbed on trees when the Icarians came to the world where and still hanging on trees when they left, in time started walking and using tools . Slowly the civilization that the Icarians envisioned started its slow crawl to greatness and to the reunion with their long lost cousins among the stars...
On earth civilizations rose and fell but before that time came far above in the distant stars the Icarian republic and its allies the genetically enhanced Alteran humans who after thousands of years of careful development by their former masters managed to step aside and form their own civilization and in gratitude to the Icarians became their protectors and guardians of the waning republic, and later the guardians of the peace when it finally dissolved of its infant races.
But in the end they were betrayed by the races they protected out of fear and envy and they found their home worlds destroyed and burned.
Realizing that the war is lost and that their last systems will be soon overrun the Alterans sent a fleet of transport ships to the planet that none of them ever stepped on. To the world that gave life to their ancestors to the world they called Terra. This is a story of their legacy, of our finding out of our distant past and taking our rightful place among the stars...
