Did Spotify remove a feature, before in Playlists you could scroll to the very top and enable an option to sort based on things like date added, or title, artists, etc. but i can't find the sorting function where it was at least.

The problem with advertisements is only when music is streamed directly to google chromcast audio...

That's because the stream is NOT going through the App on your phone/tablet anymore. Now Spotify direct to Chromecast.
