You're not alone. This is very sad news indeed.

I just hope that it does turn out to be "temporary". :(

Rss reading programs instantly grab all of our releases and other sites are set up to read that data and basically provide all of our releases in realtime to their sites. Basically stealing our work.

Then problems come up between Android releasers at least, (Coming soon to eBook I can imagine ;)), releasers release here, other members from other stealing websites call them out because the rss reader also got the release as well, there is tit for tat over who is the original releaser blah blah. End of story there is too many painful perm bannings etc.

You might take a look at it from the other side, too. The ebook section has become virtually unusable with the number of releases; even sub-sections don't help that much. Running an auto-grabber, pushing all of it into a Calibre library and hoping for the best is all you can do right now if you still got a life outside of your browser window.

1) Doing this (for stealing links or just for your private use) without the RSS feeds just causes people to continually poll the boards which will result in more traffic, once someone perfected that method and packaged it into software, preferably compatible with jDownloader).

2) If you don't generate the RSS feeds some other service will do it for you. With even less control over the process or subscriber base.

What can be read online can be spread, one way or another. You can't stop that so deal with it. Right now the only thing you'll have any impact on is your own user base (and that's the people you hope to get to making a donation).

I have to agree i miss the feeds i found it the easiest way to bypass site restrictions and allowed me to look at Mobilism wherver i am even off line when needed.

I only had feed looking at ebooks, (scifi, fiction) which were my two favourite feeds - i would love to see them return. Why turn then them off unless it is to bring people to the site more often which is not always available to the few of us who cannot always get access to the site whilst travelling.

Hope you can find a way to restore them :)

That's too bad, any chance you can turn them on or if it's to problematic can't you replace them with personalized ones even if it is only for registered users?
Also you should consider removing the links from the feed or even better replacing them with ones pointing back to the thread/forum so it won't be a good idea to steal them and maybe lead some of the thief's users back to the original source.

P.S. Most users here can't spend hours going back page after page of content just to check what's new and the RSS feeds ware the ideal solution because you have all the new threads and can easily filter and clean them before going thru the rest of them.

What he said... Make the feeds point to the topic.. then anyone who steals them is either gonna have to do a lot of work or it will obvious to anyone who reads the stolen stuff that it come from here originally.

In this day and age RSS feeds are a must. Some of the feeds from this thread still work, most dont. I wish they did. Love this site but it can be a PITA to have to visit each forum to check whats new when a feed could do it quickly and discretely if checking from work :-) without fuss

Please put a proper feed system in place .. PLEASE!

To put it simply: Mobilism is useless without RSS feeds. Too many releases and a very unfriendly search function just mean I (and many others, I suppose) won't bother to check out several topics daily - thus there is no incentive to visit the site at all.

Dear Admins, please reconsider.

Add one more to the voice of people asking for the RSS feed to be brought back.
As much as I'd love to have the time to browse every single ebook release, it's not gonna happen.

What about having it as part of the VIP membership?
I'd actually pay for that!

For the last two months since the RSS feeds vanished I have been trying to figure out a that works for me. Most feed scraping sites just do not give enough info. I noticed in this topic that somebody had used Feeds43 - so I thought I though I would try that. Goodness this is not an easy process especially or someone like me who has little understanding of HTML. I have read many "how to's" but they seem to use simple sites not forums as their preference and I just could not figure it out.

Then I tried a different approach and came up with this... I used the mobile version of the site as my feed source.

So I present the feeds I have created using Feeds43.

OK they are basic and simple give a title but its a start... anyone who knows a bit more can perhaps help me get better results - for instance it would be nice to remove the bits from the front of the comics but beggers cannot be choosers

Here you go feel free load the following into your preferred RSS reader:

http://feed43.com/mobilismscifi.xml

http://feed43.com/mobilismmysterythriller.xml

http://feed43.com/mobilismgeneralfiction.xml

http://feed43.com/mobilismcomics.xml

one this I have noticed is that Feedly brings the images through which is nice just the main text is missing

Thanks. This one is there. But as you said, it picks up previous news items, same as the Comics feed. I'm pleased we have a feed at least. Good to see we share a love of SciFi... Have you read Red Rising? Reading it now and enjoying it a helluva lot. Being made into a film too!

Clearly you sussed this better than I did when I tried and failed to get Feed43 set up. If it isnt too much trouble I would kill for an Android Game releases and Android App releases feed ;-)

Thanks for this feed. Will check it out.

UnwantedAlien wrote:Hi Methanoid,

Thanks for the heads up.

Try this one

http://feed43.com/mobilismsci-fi-fantasy.xml

It might need further editing as i noticed the links for each seem to be picking up the previous news item - but i can deal with that whilst you try it out

Cheers
