I get this occasionally when I click on thread links

My question is whether topic has been deleted or I don't have access !?

The simple answer is usually the right answer:

If you get an error message saying that 'you are not authorised to read this forum', the most probable cause is... that you are not authorised to read that forum

You can always pm a moderator with the link, though, just to make sure. They'll be delighted to help.

The VIP forum is off limits for non-VIP members. Staff forums, including the Recycle Bin, are off limits for non-staff members. Pretty much like any other site out there.

This probably is not OP's problem, but I had the same error message for a while and I couldnt figure out why because I had paid for vip subscription. Moreover, the forum I was trying to access was not even restricted in the first place.

This problem went on for a couple of months (admins have way too much crap to deal with as it is and there was no way in hell I was going to message one for something like that) until I finally remembered that way back when I first registered I had tinkered with the displayed forums options in my user control panel. And then everything clicked (well it took 10 minutes because i'm slow that way). The bug was me, I had removed my own rights to the very forums I was trying to access by marking them "not visible" in the user control panel.


Granted the error message could be a little more precise, but it's technically correct. Formula for what you are allowed to see:


Hopefully if you have this problem someone will point you here or will find it on your own.

TLDR: check your "displayed forums" in the profile to see if you didnt remove the board.
