I've gotten a virus twice from Hulkload. This last time, all I clicked on was that check box, and it STILL downloaded an .exe file to my computer.

I really wonder about the business model of these file hosters - I know the idea is to try to sell premium accounts, but who on earth told them that annoying free users was the best way to do that ?
I guarantee that companies who try to get me to sign up by 1) attempting to con me into downloading adware, 2) using captcha schemes which are incomprehensible and 3) make the free download button difficult to find will NEVER see one single penny of my money.

Thank you for the info, I too have been having a big problem downloading books. I don't mind people making money on the downloads, I just wish I didn't have to do all the work for it. The downloads are free, but at times I never do find the free way to download and just have to skip the book. I have a pop up blocker but it doesn't seem to help that much. I have even come across a site or two which don't have a checkbox and still get an exe when I donwload.

Same here, seems most of these file hosting companies are dirtbags, luckily Google blocked it from downloading. One site even tried to trick me into "updating Google Chrome" and install a virus that way. Most people probably don't realize Chrome updates itself, no need to download an update and getting a notice like that immediately after clicking on a site is a strong indicator of social engineering.

Solidfiles appears to gone to the Darkside too. I was on another site & DL'ed a book via SF. The big green button DL'ed an exe file. The smaller underlined Direct Download button was just fine.
So much for Filesharing Without The Bullshit....

Letitbit.net/Skymonk seems to be a malicious hosting site. There is no way to download from the site without either a premium code or the downloader.
