SPAM hunters...

The briefing...

• Ladies and gentlemen, thanks for joining this meeting. You're all aware we have a lot of Spam posted on our beloved site lately. Might be a sign we are successful, and the high rate of visitors attract companies and individuals to post their links on our site with the only purpose to gather personal benefit and fortune, while very often opening a 'gate' to harm your computer and/or steal personal data. Maybe they post on our site so frequently because on other sites they don't get a chance to post, or maybe they are chased away very quickly from those sites. Let's do the same. Let's hunt them down...

Identifying the target...

• We suppose you recognize a spam post by now. Comments totally off-topic posted by a user that registered recently - even the same day - containing (malware) links to external sites in the post itself and/or signature. They are often not in English.
• Look at an example of SPAM post here.
• Those posts need to be removed as quickly as possible, and the author(s) removed, banned, cursed... treated in a way they'll never be tempted again to return . We may not give the slightest impression to spammers that their posts & links have a chance to get viewed by the many users of this site.

Aim...

• So, this is the usual drill to follow, once you discover a 'SPAM' post:
  
  • Tap the 'Report this post' icon on the right bottom side of the post ()
  • Select 'Spam' in the 'Reason:' dropdown menu
  • Tap 'submit'
  • The report window will close, and leave a report mark on the topic or post

Shoot!

• Marked posts are spotted by a staff member (see SPAM example), deleted, and the poster banned
• Everybody happy, spammer removed, and you're left with the feeling you did something good for the site... for ALL of us! Beautiful.

Reward...

• Now, we'd like to reward this sense of responsibility. From now on, you will be allowed to report to us when you found a spammer, and you'll be rewarded accordingly.

Meeting summary...

• So, what do you do if you discover a spam post?
  
  • 'Mark' the post with the report icon, as described in the 'drill' above
  • Post here a link to the spam post
  • that's it, we'll do the rest
• What shall we do?
  
  • We'll check if the post you reported is indeed a spamm post
  • if not yet done, we shall remove it and also the spammer
• How shall we reward?
  
  • At the end of each month every user that reported a spam post here during that month will be rewarded
  • The amount of the reward will depend on the number of reported spams:
  • Every user will get as many WRZ$ as the number of spams he reported, multiplied by the number of different users that reported a spam post here. Example: You reported seven spam post, and there were ten different users reporting spam: at the end of the month you'll receive 7 x 10 = 70 WRZ$

Debriefing...

• Don't be afraid to report a post to be spam if you're not sure about it. We'll find out for you and take action if necessary. Do NEVER click on suspicious links to find out for yourself. For your own security, and for the obvious reason we don't want spammers to 'score', better not touch those links.
• Also, don't be afraid the spam post you discovered will be deleted before you can report it here. We have logs and will check that, so you will get your reward anyway.
• Again, please don't do this for the reward, guys... All help is welcome because - above all - it's the site's sake that matters!
