London in the nineteenth century. In the infamous Docklands, Matt Thurow investigation for its own account, a series of violent and mysterious deaths. A former Scotland Yard police officer does not suspect a single second of the magnitude of the case in which he is engaged. The young man into the path of Molly Vane, former engineer in the powerful Golden Shell today rebel striving, with a handful of good men decided to oppose the project and prevent Clockwerx the company to hand over the lucifernium a source of energy revolutionary coveted. To do this, Miss Vane did not hesitate to steal some clocks -robots that really works - and to engage in a war of the most dangerous to curb excessive ambitions of a circle of very influential people.

Genesis is the first volume of this diptych set in the London of the Victorian era. Jason Henderson and Tony Salvaggio the scenario allowed themselves a fancy dipping their plot in a steampunk universe. A sub-genre related to science fiction, but for taking part in the nineteenth century and the industrial era. The technology is that of steam complex and often disproportionate to the image of clocksIron Giants controlled by men and driven by the lucifernium.

The writers immediately plunge the reader into the action that will crescendo, multiplying twists. Despite the simplicity of the plot, suspense and momentum of the plot keep the reader in suspense. The London misty atmosphere and the latent threat seems to hang over the harbor - where to spend the majority of events - are well made and contribute to the mystery that concerns both protagonists. The only downside - and that is likely to be daunting one - lies in the narrative. This is chaotic and spoils the flow and sequence of different scenes.

The designer Jean-Baptiste Hostache takes particular care to urban settings. The famous Clock Tower and the English houses are remarkably drawn. Similarly, the technology inherent gender is transcribed, both retro and sophisticated. The clocks to the aesthetic cleverly sought are a good example. Besides the designer enjoys chew every angle. However, the features of some characters are sometimes uneven and can be confusing. As for colors, they are perfectly Victorian and its mysteries, even the fog can not hide.

Although disappointing in its narrative form Clockwerx has what it takes to please fans of the genre. The second volume, with lighting that should be made, is already awaited for to confirm whether or not this impression.
