Overview: January 1889, the coast of Liverpool... a Leviathan is dying on the muddy banks of the Mersey. The ingratitude of men has transformed the Great Eastern, a gigantic steamship built thirty years earlier, into a miserable wreck, butchered day after day by an army of scrap-men. But the belly of the beast harbours a macabre secret, the discovery of which will trigger an investigation. When the affair proves politically sensitive, the case is entrusted to Queen Victoria’s secret police: Special Branch.
