Overview: The Wild West frequently calls to mind a lawless frontier packed with bank and train robberies, showdowns between gunslingers and posses being rounded up to capture criminals to bring them to justice. Clearly, these were action packed times that would seem to provide action packed gameplay for a company to capitalize on. Taking a different approach to the time period, Spellbound and Viva Media have recently released Helldorado, a tactical action strategy sequel to the older Desperados series. Jean David Morvan ported this to comics.

Genre: Comics, Mediaval Age, History, Scanlation, Mature Reader.

On a tropical island in the Atlantic Ocean, the mid-seventeenth century, a village awakens in terror, invaded by a band of conquistadors. There will be no survivors among the inhabitants. Men, women, children, all will be decimated and burned. For what reason? Apparently a crime totally free from punish, neither rape nor looting being reported. Hutatsu Dathcino and two native neighbors, do not ask questions. Rather it is a boon for them to go after the massacre to eat and drink their fill.

Helldorado opens onto a living hell: seven panel boards detailing a massacre worthy of the Holocaust. From the outset, The tone is set, Morvan and Dragan want to make their story as realistic as possible, in an era in which the invasion of the New World by the Spaniards was a veritable slaughter. Beyond that, it's hard to know where we will conduct this plot that does relate to the time period already discussed many times. The surprise will probably come from this mysterious and devastating epidemic raging on the island, and the fate of two natives. Difficult to judge at this time.

In fact, this album is mostly a new opportunity to appreciate the graphic designer of Argentine Ignacio Noe, that had been discovered in the first volume. If the faces are a little too monotonous and simplistic, the scenery, wildlife and plants are for their admirable. The coloring also plays a major role: mostly sober and sweet, greater when it is necessary to highlight certain details, it creates an atmosphere perfectly suited to this tropical region. And even if one does not equal the effects of warm color direct must recognize that digital can definitely get amazing results with natural shades.

Planned in three volumes, Helldorado has undeniable qualities but is not yet completely convincing. However, the scenario shows the following ingredients suggesting a more exciting, enough to satisfy readers already under the spell of the drawings.

Hellorado
