I am totaly agree with @hinata 's sugestion about using Xprivacy in Combination with xposed For security instead of having an anti-virus which only scans apps not restricts them, there are many apps which are clean and are not virus but they instead of being a virus they almost do what a viurs is supposed to do, they ask for so many sensitive permission which is not needed for them to function properly, but with Xprivacy you can simply and easily restrict them from getting your sensitive data or Feed them a Fake data

Correct me if I'm wrong but these apps don't really do anything on Android and is nothing more than a waste of space.

Seems like a pretty mainstream list to me that misses out on some of the newer apps that do the job a lot better.

Well, technically you're right, these apps don't do much, other than waste battery and memory resources.
Though as a security app, I'd highly recommend XPrivacy. This app rocks, though requires more experience users to be installed.

EDIT: After I read your second post, I feel totally stupid :P

I have tried all: Moonreader + Pro, iReader, Aldiko, FB2 reader and Mantano.
I found Mantano to be the best and most practical features, including an offline dictionary.

it seems that not everyone is satisfied with the results.

for next year, i propose that mods create a summary of features, especially ones that are mentioned by users in the poll threads.
this way, when the results came, we know what majority users love, and where can we find it :)

For selecting the nominee, create nomination threads first. Then you can create polls based on the nominations.

also, please add "best office viewer/editor", "best contact manager", "best memory management" (free ram, delete trash, etc), "best planner".

I can live with most of the picks, but not having Handcent listed in the SMS category seemed odd. I've been using it for years and it has always been awesome. It has unmatched customization. It is usually the first or one of the first apps I'd install on any Android phone I use.

Nothing beats Mantano for ebooks. MoonReader doesn't even render the css properly (unless you put it in a special crippled mode) and falls at the first hurdle.
