What's the difference between a pair of scissors and a sheet of paper?

You root a mobilephone to get more rights. Without root, you're restricted, but safer. If you're an advanced user, you may root your phone to max. out its usability.
APK-files are androids installers. Like an exe-file for windows. Some apps need your mobilephone to be rooted, to get access to all features (features, you won't have without root).
