Have you tried to restore factory settings?
Is the battery mounted well?
What system version do you have? Stock or custom ROM?

I would do as michaldu suggests, as sometimes these things happen when you upgrade the OS or install a custom ROM on your phone.

I upgraded to ICS, all stock, never played around with those things.
Will doing a restore factory settings delete my app collection? do I need to back it all up?

Yes, you will need to back up all your data and apps stored on your phone's internal SDcard. As doing a factory restoration will erase all the data stored on your phone.

Also, did you have this problem before upgrading your OS from Gingerbread to ICS?

No I didn't.

And thank for the heads up.

Will do it later and update.

Just wondering...

I've got MyBackUp Pro...

Does backing Application & Media + Data, then after the return to default, restoring it, bring my phone back to it's current condition?

Yeah, it should. MyBackUp Pro has a setting, which will basically backup all the data stored on your phone at the current moment you perform the backup. Therefore you should be able to restore the data that was on your phone to it's previous state after you have performed the factory restoration process.

I'm glad that you have solved your problem. Anyway is ICS running smoothly on your SGSII? I'm goin to be getting one in the next month, and I want to know if it's worth it updating the OS from Gingerbread to ICS.
