Download Instructions: install. account creation will probably fail inside app. this is unavoidable. create account at website listen.grooveshark.com. start trial when prompted. the developers actively maintain a protection system that bans accounts and blacklists ips. every attempt has been made to prevent this but i am not responsible for anything. if account banned or ip blacklisted, create new account, change ip, reinstall. sometimes you can simply reinstall. big thanks to lowfive for testing.

fyi folks, the account you create doesn't have to have an existing email (ie, they don't send verification emails). Also, passwords have to be 5+ characters I believe: once I entered a longer password, it allowed me to create the desired acct right from the app (although your experience may be different than mine).

Is there any need to update? I'm still running one of the first versions you uploaded on here and it still appears to work for me on my original account (albeit with the odd random refusal to play specific tracks...)

Wait is this one working, the last one kept blacklisting/baning users from Grooveshark accounts...

there were instructions/warnings in the original post but they were removed...
it works. the protection system did not ban any of my accounts or blacklist any ips during normal use. it is always possible the system is changed so it's not possible to be 100% sure. if you are banned, reinstall and change your ip.




if any other version has caused you to become banned, this version more carefully handles communication with server and should allow you to use it again. 2.2.1 also has several bugs fixed but if you are satisfied with 2.0.8, there is no great need to update.

Two reasons you may want to consider updating:
1) better odds of remaining unflagged (my personal opinion)
2) more features and fine tuning
Explanations listed below.

Back when lohan first started releasing grooveshark I encountered the random songs issue due to grooveshark flagging me. I spent hours testing ways to avoid the bans and literally nothing worked (trust me I was quite exhaustive). Most people also experienced this problem which indicates to me that you've simply been very lucky and that you'll eventually be flagged.

More recently lohan approached me with this new version and I put it through the exact same rigorous battery of tests. I even did a few things to intentionally tempt a ban. If you follow the instructions in the OP it appears that this version is practically ban proof (for the time being at least).

Obviously, as with any app, grooveshark updates theirs with the intention of adding new features and improving functionality. In my opinion they have done some of both since the old versions. They've added stuff like the "popular" songs, genre radio stations, and maybe one or two more. I'm sure if you google you can find a change log of exactly what has changed.

No problems for me...I used it for about 5 hours a day for a couple days during work.

I haven't had time to try this, sorry guys.

Is anyone able to fast forward into a song with the slider? I am unable to do so :/ (HTC Hero)

Unfortunately I don't believe the app allows fast forward which yet. Don't ask me why they haven't included that feature yet.... Seems petty essential, right?

Guess we'll just have to wait the grooveshark developers.

After 15 days it stopped working for me, the trial was over. But i reinstalled it, made new account and it works again. Thank you soooo much, great release!!!

You might try clearing the cache. I've been using the same account for probably two months now. If the app ever gets bitchy I just go to settings > applications > manage applications > find grooveshark > force stop if it's running > clear data.

It'll delete any changes you've made to the settings, but you should be able to then use the same email as you were before. Also, it's probably quicker to do that than uninstall/reinstall. Hope that works for you like it does for me.
