I had some issues long time ago with Sprite, although it looks so nice at first sight...

I wonder if SPB Backup is reliable..?

I installed the file from the first post without reading the entire thread, used included Auth code. Made backup (from PDA, since PC Agent wasn't working). Performed a ROM-upgrade of my device, restored the back-up with device upgrade mode activated, and now PC Agent does work!
Good release I say!

I'm new PDA user (FS Loox N560). How You perform a ROM-upgrade of Your device and restored the back-up with device upgrade mode activated.

SPB Backup here I come, hope it works better??

I'm using SPB Backup from the ver 1.5.1 on HTC Prophet (Qtek S200) and backups/restores are fine. No problems.

Due to previous experience and crashes, I have several backup programs installed and do one on each of them every now and again. I tried to do one the other day with Sprite specifying only the email and contacts file. When it restarsts the device ready for backup, it wouldnt startup and got locked in a loop on the splash screen. Nothing I did would get out of it. Resulted in a hard reset and a restore from SPB, it worked fine!! Good bye sprite backup, it has given me so many problems & wrecked my device!!

I agree. Recently I have tested all 3 most popular buckup apps: SPB, Sprite and Sunnysoft. And SPB was the ONLY which can make full system backup (with system files in ROM) without reboot ("terminate other processes" option must be off for this). Rest of the tested apps needs 2 restarts (pre-boot and post-boot)!
SPB do not backup only one file (windows/lic/lsoma.db), but other apps can't access this file too.
SPB have most effective compression (18MB file versus 21MB and 24MB for other two apps), but places self in middle regards of speed (time).

So IMHO SPB is the best.

ps
The fourth leading backup package which I don't test yet is SK Tools.
If I found more time I plan post results of my reviews elsewhere... maybe on some blog...?

That would be great to see your test results, especially if you detailed what files can't be backed up and the significance of each file.

You should thank the sprite backup developers that it was only ur device that got wrecked; i have had to format my computer itself after installing this malware backup thingy---dunno why its such a hype about this one

ne ways me too using spb backup only
and for those who complaint about time and speed : well it may be bcoz of the strong compression that spb backup does
and compression level is the only thing i want spbbackup for
it almost halves the size of the data being backup up i.e. my 50 mb data gets stored in 27 mb space
if u dont compress than its damn fast too

It's no use for me to backup to SD card, because I install all of my programs to SD.....so I have to backup ALL PPC memory including SD+phone ppc memory....the final image will not be able to be backed-up into my SD....There's no free space left on it..
Do you have any solutions?
Thank you

Copy down the whole of ur SD card on ur PC using a card reader or using Softick card Export to read the data on the Card---- active sync wont be abe to read programs files on the Card

Now backup ur main memory using SPB BAckup with compression enabled

U may delete some of the files on the Card after u have copied it to the PC and then backup ur device memory using SPB Backup

now if u want those files back then move the spb backup file to ur PC and restore back those files which u deleted from the card

I hope this helps!! :D
