Windows 95 Pocket v0.9 Updated (freeware)
Requirements: Pocket PC 2002 - 6.1, VGA screen recommended, 64mb+ RAM, 25mb+ ROM, External Keyboard Recommended
Overview: Run a full version of Windows 95 on your Pocket PC or Smartphone, without flashing the firmware.

Known Issues:

* Nyidot virtual display crashes some devices.
* Mouse cursor needs to be dragged with stylus or moved with the devices arrow button.

Clicking is done with the center button.
* On some systems, VK MSCONSOLE causes crashes. To avoid this install pocket console after the main installer.

Installation:

DO NOT INSTALL TO STORAGE CARD

Note for devices with screens less than VGA (QVGA, WQVGA, Etc.):
Download Nyidot Virtual Display (in the download section).
Install it.
Open Settings > System > Virtual Display.
Change Width to 480, Height to 640.
Change Orientation to one of the landscape modes.
Soft Reset and continue with the instructions below.

For devices with less than 100mb free internal memory:
Download the Alternate Installer.
Extract the ZIP.
Copy the 'Win95.bin' file to your Storage Card.
Install the provided CAB file and soft reset your device.
Go to Settings > Personal > Buttons and set a buton to '<Input Panel>'
Open the 'Windows 95' program on your device.
Click on the arrow beside the keyboard and select 'VgaKey.net Keyboard'.
Press 6 and hit <Enter>
Windows 95 will begin loading.
Press <F5> to enter full screen mode.
To use the keyboard, press the button you changed earlier.

For devices with over 100mb free memory:
Download the Installer.

Customization
To load Linux or any other OS, go to the disk images section of the bochs web site.
Download one and extract with 7-zip.
Uninstall the Standard release and install the alternate release.
Instead of copying win95.img copy the img you extracted and rename it to win95.
This method only works on some OS's.
Also, the images there are outdated and open source.
Instructions to create your own are on the site.

am tempted to try just no external key board so need to know if ppc virtual keyboard will work ok as defeats the object of a PPC have this as needs an external keyboard lol

Ok, I was the brave one to try this on my XPERIA...
and It worked... rather I should - started. Really, I am amazed....

The screen takes 640/480 resolution.... But, touch screen does not work. Will play around a little more and then post more.

I tried on my XPERIA and had to hard reset. Did not boot past the SE-screen...

I tried on HTC BA and i must do Hard reset too damn !!!!! damn !!!!

It crashed when i changed resolution by virtual display.

Touchscreen works if you drag the cursor with your stylus.
If virtual display crashed yours, try upgrading to a newer version.
A new release will be out soon.
The bochs part of the software is free, but Windows 95 is not.

Windows 2000 would be possible, so i'll try and get that soon.
Unfortunately, windows 95 runs slow on 400mhz so XP and Vista probably won't work. Sorry about the virtual display issue. Its not my software so you should chech ppcwarez to see if there is a new version.
