Hey all. I just saw that Navigon released 3.5.4 for the US market.
Have seen the post about patches and free update for Navigon Select but its not the same for the US version.
The US version use purchase history and validation. If purchased then can update.
Otherwise its a full purchase price of $60.
So anyhow if someone who had purchased the US version would be kind and had the APK to share?

Hi all and welcome! First want to thank you guys for coming over from the other post.
As you know things were getting mixed up with them. Honestly some of those guys, I am not sure if their instructions were meant solely for EU users or if they were directed at US. I think some were. Anyhow its not a simpler version.xml edit, or copying files over from one version to another.

The problem lay in the library files of navigon. Going from version 3.5.3 the share library file is not compatible with gingerbread.
So simply copying the library file from say, Navigon Select 3.5.4 to the old US 3.5.3 does not work either, since the resource files and manifest files feed into it.

So for those of us that want US version, we need the Navigon 3.5.4 US apk. As we all know this is NOT FREE.
Built into the androidmanifest is a "call home" code. What it does is check with android Market to see if you have purchased the app. This is being done with more and more apps now more and more so that it cuts down on pirating and file sharing for paid apps. It it makes it harder to just share apps. What this means is you have to know a little something about google android coding.

So the process is to decompile and essentially encrypt the files, then find that code string, modify and recompile.
Problem is each app may have it buried in different areas. It can be detective work. hahaha.

Anyhow hope this gives you more understanding and gives some insight why its not as simple as the EU version, since that is Free and the US version is not and have that market check code.

Yup. I'm running gb too.

Someone brought up the idea of doing $1.00 donation fund and go from there.
I dont mind sparing a buck or $2. That is totally doable.
But I have some reservations myself and just gonna put it out there; it takes trust to even give a buck or 2 to a stranger.

But I guess parting with a dollar or two is not as bad as I make it out to be in my own head.
Just not a big paypal user so I guess I can figure that out also.
its been like 3 years since I did any transaction with it via ebay purchase.
Anyhow hopefully a purchaser of the app would be kind enough to help us.

I had someone priv msg me about donating for it. I'm willing to pay 1/2 of it if I can get the rest from people. As a mod here I figured I might be a little more trustworthy than the average person. As it is, I'm putting my personal email and name out there to people that are willing to donate. But it's out there if we can get enough people. I can always use CoPilot for offline, in the times I need it. Honestly, Google Nav is pretty damn good, there's few times I'll load up something else, so shelling out 60 bucks for Navigon when I already paid I think 40 for it when I had the iPhone is just too much for me. It's a great app, don't get me wrong, but for how often I'm going to use it, it's not worth 60 bucks to me when there's a free alternative.....

Exactly my thought on the expense. But google nav I will say sometimes takes u some no so direct routes. I know they recently updated their algorthym but it still no like navigon.

Like last week I had to go to the airport and it took me via the surface road. Dumb. Traffic lights all the way.

I could have gotten on the express way and got there sooner due to the lights.

And I won't mind adding to the perminent fund. That any upgrades someone will have access.

I did try in my friend phone and no luck, it say fail activation with google servers,
I was searching around and nothing, I did try a couple modification with the version.xml file but no luck.
I hope someone can help us.

About the share, the folder is 1.6GB, so if you dont mind I can upload the folder to your dropbox account.
another thing is, my friend download the file with torrent and he say took about 40 minutes.. so try again because I have two computers seeding.. let me know

We have been waiting for this for about a month now.

So big big thanks. As soon as my car gets fixed, def will be donating.

Here it is:
Cracked and fully functional.

A few things to check/check into after download and install:

1. If you had the previous map from 3.5.3 US it will not prompt you to download maps.
-- However, if you want to, you can manually have it download maps/
A. Once the app launches, menu>settings> availible maps. (take apprx 32 mins for me on wifi)

2. If you dont have the maps folder it will prompt you on start up and ask if you want to download via wifi or PC transfer.
-- If you're thinking of the pc transfer, looks like SOGJC is hosting.
-- Wifi apprx 32 mins on this too.

3. Not sure if this is just my rom (SS Chevy 5.2 updated patch) but i had to do re-establish the map download via the map manager a few times. First couple times I turned the screen off since it wasn't doing it on its own on the progress window. Anyhow those 2 times it didn't fully complete and got hung up. So the 3rd time I left it alone and it completed in the 32mins. So looks like it may need to stay active and on that screen. Just to be on the safe side.

I tired your link for the torrent, but everytime I try to load it, tell me there is an encoding error and goes in the list, but nothing coming down

Just thought I'd let you know.

When I get time I can host the US maps and Canada maps via 4shared. Although I think the Candaian map is Q2Navigon 3.5.4 US only download US Maps but I had canadian maps from 3.5.3. So it may even be Q1 2010.

So did your friend try the modified apk and did it install and work ok?

Feed back anyone? Did it work for u guys? I was doing a search to see how the topic is coming up and notice google bots were on the forum. Ah oh? Lol

The Crack apk is working perfect. I did try in a couple phones and it work!

About downloading, once you install the apk it let you download the maps.

Hi guys. Thank you for new apk. And here are few questions comes with it. Is it possible to change the size of POI (they are too small)? Is it possible to change zoom (make it closer)? And the last question, can I make road sign bigger, the info on them is too small and sometime overlapping each other.

I hope you played around with the app and answered your own questions.
if you want to change the functionality of the app (text size and scaling), you will have to do lots of code programming.

About the POI, unlike iphone version, these are not PNG files and there for also embeded as codes.



I will say that I have wanted the same as you were stating, however, I had not that much interested in actually going any further with it. If i do, I'll post it. But as for right now. I'm happy that its working. sorry mate.

Personally Donated 100 wrz$ to SOGJC for supplying the APK, and 100 wrz$ to noiofnine for cracking that puppy. Going to install it in a few, be nice to have Navigon back on my CM7 phone! Was about to go back to sense (OS 2.2) for a few reasons, Navigon being one of them =]
