Features:
* Meni items for starting aplications divided in qroups,
- Entertainment,
- Games,
- Applications,
- Engineer applications and
- Navigation

More Info: This is my Beta version of custom shortcut screen so still some of links dont work.
For non HP users who will need this, you can change paths for starting applications by modifying mainshell.ini file in each folder, or change icons that represents applications
Feel free to give me advise to make this final version.

NOTE! you will have to edit all shortcuts in mainshell.ini files BEFORE so that applications starts normally
Download Instructions: Beta version -
http://rapidshare.com/files/119903505/Mexx.zip.html
Install Instructions:
For Ipaq 3xx users :
For starting application manually from Games folder:
- Unpack zip file to folder \ResidentFlash\Ipaq\OS\Games
- Start device and navigate to Games
- Start Nav
For starting application automaticly when device starts
- Rename original Nav.exe to OriNav.exe (for backup)
- Extract all files from Mexx folder to \ResidentFlash\Ipaq\NAV
- Edit all commands in mainshell.ini to point to folder "\ResidentFlash\Ipaq\NAV\... "
for example .. Command ="\ResidentFlash\IPAQ\NAV\Applications\Applications.exe"
- If you have changed all mainshell.ini files, you can restart device and custom interface should start automaticly

There are two different ways how you can start application.
1st one it to copy whole Mexx folder to OS\GAmes. Restart device with original files in NAV folder, and when HP interface starts, navigate to games and NAV folder.
Try this first to see if works that way.
Another way is to extract all files from Mexx folder to IPAQ\NAV folder (rename original Nav.exe) but then you must edit all shortcuts in mainshell.ini files to make it work.
I will upload version with modified mainshell.ini files within few days just to finish it

Yep, when it finished.
Still a lot of thing to do.
For example, I must modifiy original bluetooth stack cos if you start it by bluetooth icon (change path to start \ResidentFlash\IPAQ\Bluetooth\bluesoleil.exe) you got HP original bluetooth application.
When you click return arrow in left corner, you can return back, but if you click home icon, app. navigates to original HP interface

OK, from what I gather, we need to install a working version of igo8 35389 that is available on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=255&t=46283

Here you will get iGO8_Lite_35389_2 (self installing igo8 folder) and M4_2 (igo8.exe cracked). The default data.zip here is the 12mb one, but its better to substitute that for the 8mb version "igo8_ipaq310"download, that is better optimized for the 800x480 screen, here: http://www.flyupload.com/?fid=6790761 the topic is here: viewtopic.php?f=246&t=46529&start=0

When you combine the Igo8lite35389 installation with the 8mb data.zip and the igo8.exe from the M4 download, then you can either install in the nav folder of resident flash or on an SD card (preferable). To get it to work, you have to disable the hp nav.exe by renaming it to HPnav.exe or orignav.exe and then copying over cecmd.exe to the hap nav folder and renaming that to nav.exe. iGo8.exe wont start if the HP nav.exe is already running, so it must be disabled. When you want to use the HP nav, just undo the above steps.

To get TTS, you have to go here and fetch the appropriate dlls, voice .zip TTS files and the appropriate "persona" TTS voices for the TTS folder at: viewtopic.php?f=257&t=41509&hilit=tts&start=0
These must be added back into the appropriate location in the IGO main folder, TTS folder and Content/Voice folder.

Last thing, to function normally and get the full screen advantage, you have to download an install the Mexx folder to the Games folder and start it up that way. Then you will be able to open igo8 and other supported functions with the Mexx interface. Be mindful that you will have to edit the mainshell.ini fill to direct it to the correct path for where the nav program is stored (resident flash or SDMMC, for example). The interface is currently set up assuming that the Mexx folder is in ipaq/os/games folder and that the ig8 nav program is installed in the nav folder of resident flash.

I have tested this myself and it works!

Here is data.zip from working pc version Igo8 with 800x480 and 400x240 resolution.
I will not have possibility to test this one on my device for at least two weeks so if someone could try this that would be nice.

have I changed in the file mainshell.ini the line: Command = "\ResidentFlash\IPAQ\nav\Igo8.exe" with this: Command = "\sdmmc\iGO8\Igo8.exe", however doesn't it work, why?

Is your SD card on path \SDMMC\... or maybe on \Storage Card\... or \SDcard\...
This command is only shortcut so it should work
Also check if you have " on the end of command (that happened to me)
