When I need it (about once a year) I unload an early version before v3.0.1321 that was adapted for AU. When it is all going I simply install v3.0.1321 over the top and presto it works.

I've looked at the difference, but can't pick it (but I'm pretty busy and don't get much time)

not sure how I can get a copy of the earlier version that works to you

Also be great if dxdy (who I reckon is brilliant at this stuff) could look at the earlier version that I have cause it may have the answer for v 4 and getting it to work downunder

However, the thing I like the most is not working for me at present - google search, it is so handy when poi shows nothing

 

Either upload it on mediafire or pm me and i will give you my email address ( if that's not a problem) I've tried three or four different versions and methods, it either stops halfway when loading the maps or the maps on the pc are not recognized by the side loading application.

I've actually not had a problem using bing but it's just useful to have voice directions some times.

Will it work for other countries like India?

This is not working for Asia .. Below is what I get to download maps. I want it for India

i cant give you what not exist... try change region to PAC

all maps is 3D.... in Navigon you choose did you want 2D or 3D

and you must download Android maps and files for Navigon India

then with Navigon Content Downloader download EU maps and files to your PC... this is important to see folders and files structure. deselect EU maps to reduce download size but leave only one

I've a problem to upload EU Maps downloaded from NAVIGON Content vers 1.6.1.0 on NAVIGON 4.1.0.0

Followed all the istruction on Navigon Content :
1)Deployment of Navigon 4.1.0.0 completed without error.
2)Zune synched and no any data connection on phone,no other program open on PC,Antivirus deactivated on PC
3)Start the NAVIGON Content (listen to IP Address 192.168..x.x) click on start
4) Server started showed on "Server Log" Tab
5)Click on Navigon icon on Phone,and the message appear "For your app,there is data available......."
6)click OK,Navigon switch automaticcally on Map Manager
7)"Responded to Files List call..." is showed on "Server Log" Tab

and still for many our without upload message....nothing

Any suggestions?

NCD not work with Navigon 4.1.... only with 4.0... i write this few post ago...

if you want change maps (dont want use original maps from navigon server), you can use Windows Phone Power Tools or Windows Phone Device Manager and extract file filelistBA.xml to PC and edit right size of map file....

- Navigon 4.1 Europe is installed to
\Applications\Data\DA8734ED-666A-4227-81EA-8FC937752D98\Data\IsolatedStore

- Navigon 4.1 USA
\Applications\Data\f7a3b10b-302f-49b2-92ae-b77a7392789e\Data\IsolatedStore

for example for Q2.2012 map file for Germany you change to this in filelistBA.xml

save filelistBA.xml and replace existing file on device and send Q2.2012 Germany map to MAP folder

if you want you can also add Brunnel file (tunnel's EU data), upload Brunnel.nfs in data folder

if you dont know how to see exact size of map file, upload first to phone in map folder and see map size in WPPT

I've installed 4.1 and after i've download maps directly from mobile,via WiFi (only Italy for the moment) WORK !!
But how i can check the NAVIGON and MAPS version installed?

you cant check maps version in official Navigon 4.1... only in custom (World) version 4.0 but maps from navigon server is year old, not updated... if you want fresh maps, download Q2.2012 and put it to phone by yourself....

Whats the advantage of Navigon over Nokia Drive? . Pardon my ignorance

depends where you live and for what you need navigation...
try booth and you see which is better for you

Navigon is offline navigation (internet needs only for downloading content traffic and weather data), Nokia Drive (ND) can use internet for better search results
Navigon have more detailed maps (especially in Eastern European countries) but ND maybe make better routes in large cities (last week i tested in Croatian city Split which is first time to drive in this city and ND make this easier)
Navigon have more options (Live traffic info, POI search by category, better favorites saving, weather data...)
ND have support for more navigation voices than Navigon
....

I can still recite it much but it is best that you try what I am best suited to you. In any case, you can have both and use the one that suits you.
