Thanks! How does it compare to Wikipedia (the Tomeraider file), in terms of content, scope and usability?

Can someone please reupload the application file and zip file (not the databases) to rapidshare? I can't get the 2 megaupload shares to work.

Thanks!

I have a question for the pros in this board :lol:

I'm a huge TomeRaider fan, and using its 900,000-article file from 2005 quite often. Now, my question about Lexipedia is: Does the new file (the 900+ MB), has updated only the 550,000 aricles from the previous version of Lexi, or does the new file also contains all the new articles that were created in the margin?

If Lexi is still 550,00 articles file, then I wouldn't switch to it and stick with the older-more-comprehnsive TomeRaider file. Otherwise - I'm moving to Lexi.

I hope that my question is clear enough :-)

Yes, the newer 900MB+ file has more articles than the previous version - it is a cut taken from Wiki with the additional articles.

Okay, I just finished testing the new lexi file and I'm disappointed.

The Lexi viewer itself is great, has a nice user interface and all.
The file has indeed a nice amount of updates and it's really good.
But.. It just lacks too many articles! Articles about new things and articles about "older" things that were just recently added to wikipedia. Argh!

So here is my advice:

if you like your wikipedia more comprehnsive and containing more articles (as including pop-culture articles like articles about tv shows, music bands, internet technology etc), and you don't mind it being a bit out-of-date, then go with TomeRaider;

If you look up articles about science, history and other "classic/old" knowledge -- go with Lexi;

If you can afford it -- go with both.. also bcuz TomeRaider has many good Ebooks and other Wikis (like IMDB tome - complete with all movies, pretty up to date). TomeRaider also has a 2007 version of WIKI containing over 1 million articles but it's a minimal version: all the articles are cut and too short to do anything with for me.

The 2007 version of Wikipedia is not that bad actually, it's true the articles are abridged but they are linked to the full online version. So you can check the main facts quickly, and if you want to go deeper, it's only one quick away (for people with online systems anyway).

Hi,

I have a strange problem with Lexipedia: I've installed it on SD-card and copied the 900MB database to the program's directory. However, when I run Lexipedia it says that that it cannot find the database file! Now, I've been using Lexipedia before with my N560 ppc and never had this problem. Recently I've upgraded the ROM of my ppc to WM6 and I get this error with this new ROM (and this is the only program I have a problem with). I'm wondering if Lexipedia has a compatibility problem with WM6 or I'm missing something obvious and easy somewhere....

Just copy the .lx file to where you installed lexipedia on your sd card. I advise you to use a SD Card reader other wise it will take more then 2hours to transfer via activesync
