Many sites have a special logo or symbol. If we were to have one it should be an uptime counter. Its pretty hard to deny that we have a bad track record when it comes to being online. This may be because we're the largest warez site for PPCs (and the second largest forum for PPCs in the world), or because we've been extremely unlucky. However, one thing that I can assure you guys of is that no matter what happens the staff will do its best to get the site back up.

What caused our downtime is a matter of speculation. Its quite possible that the source was a bribe. What we know for a fact however is that at one point all of our servers went down. Normally, this wouldn't have been a problem. Backups are taken daily and transferred over to a secondary server not connected to our normal host. The real bad news however appeared when we discovered that the downloading of the backups stopped on June 11. We had some short problems on June 12 which lead to a change in configurations, the result of which was the halt of backup transfers over to a secondary server.

After this we attempted to get in contact with our host, but even after many phone conversations they did not budge. The representative we spoke with at first made promises, and eventually plain out lied. In the midst of all this drama, several days after the servers went down, I decided that we needed to get away from this host. Our site now has a new host (in the Netherlands), and though more expensive, is also a more reputable company. So far their service has been impeccable, although Im afraid the same could have been said about our old host four months ago. Our server setup is now also more spread out, with additional servers running scrips (no information on them at all) in Germany (thanks to a very good friend of mine) and Canada (newly purchased). In addition to that we have the two new servers in the Netherlands.

PPCwarez is now back online, but with a backup taken on June 11. This means that a fair quantity of posts and releases is gone. The loss is substantial, but nothing that this community would be unable to recreate. The httpd version we have up right now is also old and is what is causing many errors, as well as the login problems for many users. We are working on fixing everything that we lost, but this will take some time. Please bear with us for now, as you may have noticed we always end up returning strong.

If you were promoted to VIP, Release Tester, Major Warez Releaser, ROM Cooker or Cracker status after the backup was taken, pm me (or email me if you cant login: lifehacker at safe-mail.net) and it will be reinstated.

EDIT: password issues are now resolved, so please pm me rather than emailing me.

Some speed issues have now been resolved. Most importantly: mail is now back, meaning you can request a password change. Please do so if you cannot log in.

We have several emails sitting in the outbox, mostly to yahoo. They seem to be getting blocked because of their security policies. We are in the process of assigning a reverse DNS. Please have some patience.
