Congrats, Romantic1983!!

Yes, I am a ventriloquist.

Image

Ventriloquism, from the Latin "to speak from the stomach", also known as "throwing your voice", dates back as far as Ancient Greece. They started as a religious practice but became a form of entertainment in the late 18th century. Ventriloquism's popularity waned with the advent of modern media, but has survived largely in the form of live performances for adults (often with comedic elements and impersonations), and in children's/family shows.

Notable ventriloquists include Edgar Bergen (Candice Bergen's father); Shari Lewis with her puppet Lamb Chop; and Terry Fator, $1M winner of America's Got Talent Season Two.

Fear of ventriloquists' dummies is called automatonophobia. :D

Thanks for playing, all!!
