for me too , Spotify Mod , Stellio Music Player Mod are not working with my watch , but Equalizer + Pro (Music Player) v2.6.1 [Paid] is working (phone/watch) and
BackCountry Navigator TOPO GPS v6.3.4 [Paid] working too.

the spottily and Stellio google play install are working (phone/watch)

That's because these are installed differently, have you tried installing like this:

Code: Select alladb push spotify.apk /sdcard/spotify.apk
adb shell pm install -i "com.android.vending" -r /sdcard/spotify.apk
adb shell rm /sdcard/spotify.apk

Instead of using a file manager to install your apk, try the above. Obviously you need to learn to use adb and install the drivers on your computer, and on your device enable developer options so you can use usb debugging.

What's the difference between installing with this method and from file manager?

Access to wearables and interaction with car radios, if you don't use google wear things or use in a car with spotify don't bother installing with adb as you won't notice any difference.

How do I install this version over the same version, but stock without first uninstalling the original version?

Root your device and then remove spotify, then unroot your device and you can install it.

In your case, wouldn't it just be easier to uninstall stock Spotify, AND then install the mod, all without root?

WTF are you talking about? do you want to install this on a stock phone with spotify as a default/pre installed app or something else. If you don't have spotify installed as a default app - just uninstall it then install a hacked version. You can't just overwrite any version of spotify with another as the keys that sign it are different.

Spotify-7.2.0.1250-arm-Mod.apk is reporting by virustotal as riskware (Android-PUA.SN-Sure.40553547014411113444.[Riskware]) @Balatan would you mind updating a clean version please?

This is a false positive with your anti virus software - I have decompiled this apk and checked it and it's clean as a whistle, I have also tested it on my own hardware and it works fine.
