S.H.I.E.L.D.: Infinity by Jonathan Hickman

Overview: The thing you will first notice about this issue is that is Dustin Weaver didn't pencil it. Resultingly, this shows us just how integral he is to this book. This is not to denouce the other artists, as I liked them fine, but the feel of the book was not the same at all. Weaver almost seems born to draw this book. However, the tone was basically still kept in tact by Hickman and his high concepts combining some of the awesome parts of history with the Marvel U. My favorite part by far was the Colossus of Rhodes battling the Kree Sentry. Since I first learned about the Colossus of Rhodes in grade school I always wanted to see it without the dilapidation and detioration, then there he was in all his glory (albiet momentarily). That is a prime example about what I like most about this book and I have a feeling that some of you feel the same. My only complaint is how evil the last chapter made Sir Issac Newton seem. I suppose he is the antagonist, but he seemed better suited as the figurehead for the predetermined destiny point of view rather than an evil person. I don't believe he was portrayed as such a bad person histoically so it took me away from the story a bit. That being said, I know this is only a comic and my favorite one at that. In the end it was a solid book and I am just happy that they put out an issue while Weaver gears up for Book Two. Lastly, I thought it was pretty cool to see the the infinity symbol where the comic number ususally goes.
