Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 4S & iPad 2 with Absinthe

Supported devices: iPhone 4S, iPad 2.

Requirements:
- iPhone 4S (running iOS 5.0 or either 4S version of 5.0.1);
- iPad 2 (all Wi-Fi only, GSM & CDMA devices supported; must be running iOS 5.0.1).

Please remember:
- make a backup with iTunes or iCloud;
- don't update to 5.0.1 if you need an iPhone4S Unlock;
- you should not update to iOS 5.0.2 when it’s released, or you will lose your jailbreak.

Instructions: Video Guide
1. Download Absinthe.

2. Connect iPhone 4S or iPad 2 to your computer.

3. Click on "Jailbreak" button (no need in DFU mode).


4. Device will say "Restore in Progress". Do not touch it until Absinthe completes.

5. When it's done, tap the "Absinthe" icon:

Your device should still be connected to your computer and Wi-Fi should be ON. Absinthe app on your computer should still be open.

6. Your device will reboot and then the Absinthe icon will be replaced by a Cydia. Congratulations, you're jailbroken now!


When first running Cydia (the jailbreak app store) the program initializes, which could take a few minutes. After this is done, navigate to the Changes menu and touch Refresh in the upper left hand corner to update the package list.

If the Absinthe webclip shows “Error establishing a database connection”, please go to Settings, turn on VPN and wait instead.
Toggle VPN only AFTER Absinthe says it’s done, or it will not work.
VPN SHOULD error and then reboot soon. If it does not, rerun Absinthe!

 

Is it totally reliable to use this JB, because I saw that a lot of users had errors within jailbreaking.

Can I you this one, on Windows, without worry, or should I wait for some other releases?

Should I backup the SHSH blob?
If so, how? (used tinyumbrella, keeps saying too late...my device is stock ipad2 wifi 5.01, don't tell me apple has already stopped 5.01? -.-)

Also, as the user above mentioned, may I asked for success/failure stories to be posted from those who tried to jailbreak? (completely failed jailbreaking 4.3.1...being paranoid here )

Yesterday I did the jailbreak of IPhone 4S using this link and was very impressed the way the process took me to a successful path in my Windows XP. I will wholeheartedly recommend Absinthe / Greenpoison JB.

If my Ipad2 is already jailbroken ( 4.3.3), why would I need to do this aside from the Icloud since most if not all apps still run fine on 4.3.3 ?

Well, I'm really psyched about this if it really works for the iPad 2 running ios 5.0.1 (9A405). But that's the question: does it really work? The video looked good, but has anyone tried this with the iPad 2?

Worked so easy I couldn't believe it.

I am confirming of this working. I just bought an iphone today and using this guide it worked flawlessly. It was ... almost too easy.

User das4132 is writing that that programm's not working on his 4S too. You should better discuss that app problem in its own topic.
Do you have any problems with other cracked apps such games?
