How long do these batteries last for in an old PDA once their charge has been lost. If you use the AC to power one up, how long will that battery continue to work?

I own a second hand PDA, it was bought in early 2003, according to the receipt the seller bundled with it. The Cosmetics of the device is damaged, but the battery works on a weak charge eventually it won't hold one and will work via the AC only. I own another PDA that only works via the mains, so its only useful for running a custom made game on it while it is plugged in, obviously.

I also own a dated mobile phone, when its on two bars out of three, eventually that drops to no bars and loses power. I've owned it since 2 February 2009.
