I know of one app, Moliplayer, which I've been using but it's been having issues with me in the subtitles department. Know of any others that can play .mkv?

VLC will handle MKV files with subtitles without any problems.

MPC-HC is pretty good. Still being developed I think, and is widely considered better then VLC to by many people.

powerDVD has the best image quality imo, but it's heavy on ram and a bit sluggish

Pot Player if your the type of person that is digging through the settings the second you install an app, which is me.
VLC if you just want a very good player without changing nothing.

Although even I think POt Players amount of settings is a bit much. Also some files looks stunning and then the next video similar specs looks washed out and soft.
