Okay, not sure what kind of book you like, but The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera is just amazing. I read it for the first time 15 years ago, when I was a 13 year old, sure I did not 'get' everything or every layer of the book... But since then I just can't get myself to read other Milan Kundera novel, guess I loved so much that one that I'm afraid to break the spell.

Recommending a good book I read recently.
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

The Historian is the 2005 debut novel of American author Elizabeth Kostova. The plot blends the history and folklore of Vlad Țepeș and his fictional equivalent Count Dracula.

I don't know if you like Fantasy novel or not, but this is the book that got me hooked on reading novel. Before this book, the only reason i would ever read novel is if there is the word graphic in front of the novel (graphic novel/manga). It's The Demon King by Cinda William Chima (The Seven Realms). Or if you like a light hearted romance novel where the main character isn't self pitying, dark and brooding with lots of troubled past and tortured life like Sherrilyn Kenyon book you can try a Julia Quinn book. My favorite is What Happens in London (Bevelstoke 2).

Hello,
One of my all time favourite movie is "What dreams may come" with Robin Williams. Despite dealing with serious issues and death, i found it the most uplifting kai aspiring movie/story i have even seen. If you haven't seen, i really recommend it. Have a nice day :-)

For TV - if you like Altered Carbon, you'd probably like Westworld as well. Another old Sci-fi TV show is Dollhouse

One of my favorite series is the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. It is set (mostly) in the Atlanta area, has a snarky kick-butt heroine who can actually back up what she says with superior weapon skills, a well built world where magic and technology fight each other, and developed secondary characters instead of one-dimensional cutouts. :)

They are written by a husband and wife team who listen to their fans. As an April Fool's joke they 'leaked' an upcoming short story about one of the villains. The fans demanded/begged/offered bribes for them to actually do it, and they did! The book is Magic and Iron and will be released in June. I can't wait!

So I would recommend the book Economics: A User's Guide by Ha-Joon Chang. Different from other basic economic books Chang before guide you through a series os presuppositions, like others I read do, present you with a plurality os economic schools of thought and the importance about knowing them so we don't get a narrow view about it. It was almost a relief to find someone that escape from mainstream economic discourse and shows that there are more than one solution to current economic paradigms.

I'll recommend two movies then.

Hardcore Henry - and no, it's not a porn movie. It's an action movie from the first person perspective starring a mute protagonist and Sharlto Copley (of Distinct 9 and Elysium fame). It's basically a love letter to the FPS genre and one of the best action movies of the past five years. Unlike many action movies that tend to lose steam as they go on this one is an unrelenting barrage of brutal shootouts as the titular Henry guns his way to the truth.

Dredd - it's basically Training Day, if Training Day took place in a dystopian future city existing in the nuked ruins of the US. The two main characters are Judge Dredd, the no-nonsense, lawful neutral future cop with license to be judge, jury and executioner, and Anderson, a rookie Judge on her first day. Other than a stellar performance by Karl Urban (who, true to the comic book character, never takes off his helmet) and the very well choreographed action scenes, the movie stands out because it doesn't depict a world ending catastrophe, but simply a "normal" day, chasing down "normal" criminals. The villains are nothing special, their goals are nothing special, but in their banality they manage to ground the movie and the world the plot takes place in.
