No. some covers are so far off the mark that I wonder if the illustrator/designer was given a description/excerpt from a different book lol.

A cover that is interesting is absolutely necessary to catch my eye.
From there, I'll read the blurb, then I'll decide if I like it after that.

Covers make a difference I think. Some covers put me off before I've got anywhere near the content although I'll still check some of the details. There's so many books out there to read, there has to be some way of distinguishing stuff you'd like from stuff you really wouldn't like at all. Covers are a crude discriminator but they make a difference.

No, never... I have my own habit..I read a summary of the book first and decide if I read it or not

Yes. First the cover, then I read the synopsis to see if it's interesting hehe.
Used to do the same with Video tapes/DVD's when they were a thing xD

I think a book cover is as important as its content, since the readers can guess what's inside by looking at how the cover is done. I am pretty drawn into minimal designs, as "less is more". :D

I kind of do, but not really. My judgement of a cover is really by just how silly it might look. Like old 60s Marvel comics and 90s YA horror books. They're so silly looking sometimes, and I love them for that.

I also have a few Dover Thrift Editions books that don't really have covers aside from a pattern that may or may not relate to the book. What I'm trying to say is that I do judge books by there cover, but not to I won't read it because it looks goofy.

We've all been told that we should judge a book by its cover, but how often do you actually think about what the cover says? We all have our own views on what makes a good cover. I personally like covers that are simple and eye catching, without too much going on. But is this true for books, magazines, music, etc.?

I know what my answer would be if I was asked this question...

But let's take a look at some other people's opinions!

"The cover is always the first thing you notice about a book." - Mark Twain

"A book has no soul, until someone writes something inside." - Benjamin Franklin

"If a book doesn't have the right cover, don't bother reading it." - Unknown Author (and possibly Kanye West)
