Title says it all. What is YOUR favorite fantasy read ?

Includes every sort of Fantasy literature, for novels to comics to web serials.

Personally, mine is a tie game between The Gods are Bastards and A Practical Guide to Evil.

Wow this a difficult one to pin down
I would have to go with Terry Pratchetts Discworld series.
Although I could give a different answer every day of the week.

roberthofer - if you haven't read these three very original series, then I envy you the opportunity of reading them for the first time:

1. Codex Alera series (fantasy) - Jim Butcher
2. Deathstalker series (fantasy) - Simon R Green
3. Tales of the Ketty Jay series (steampunk) - Chris Wooding

Enjoy! :)

Although Amber was good, IMHO Zelazny's best was "Lord of Light".

Christopher Stasheff, "The Warlock in Spite of Himself", is a classic.

Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" and "Stardust" are up there too.

Lately I've been enjoying Barry Hughart's "The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox", but I don't think it will be one that I'll reread.

And of course LoTR. . . .

I have about a hundred fantasy favourites so its difficult to choose! My current most favourite fantasy is any of the recent stuff by Martha Wells: Book of the Raksura, Wheel of the Infinite, and the Murderbot Diaries series.

I like urban fantasy and listen to a lot of books written by women. I really like the Sunshine Walkingstick books by Celia Roman, The Mercy Thompson books by Patricia Briggs, The Jane Yellowrock and Soulwood Series by Faith Hunter and Devon Monk books amongst others.

I just finished the Danika Dark 'Crossbreed' series. I'd recommend it. Gritty, entertaining, interesting and humorous on occasion. Well plotted across the series so it's just as well to start at book one and work through them systematically. Life is never that clearly plotted or neat but it works.

"the Schooled in Magic series by Christopher Nuttall" is indeed great...at least for the first 12. 13 was frankly so bad it was embarrassing although I only read the ARC.

Zelazny's best was "Lord of Light". .... Can't disagree on that one. Brilliant book. Shorter than many are now but somehow leaves you feeling you have read an epic without the boring bits.

"The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox" All 3 are just so much fun. A tour de force of well researched chinese history and mythology

But for myself.....Wen Spencer - Elfhome series. Lots of mythological creatures but not sure it isn't Science Fiction. Very fast action. Very much written by a woman to the point that a plot that involves vast amounts of time, multiple dimensions & worlds, lots of sentient species, villains and evil in a variety of forms...well they reduce to Tinker having family issues. Although quite how Tinker is genetically related to the dragons is not yet revealed.
