Strangely, I recently stumbled upon some Youtube videos of Craig Ferguson's time as host of The Late Late Show (2005-2014). I had completely missed this show, primarily due to the late start (12:37am). During that period of time I was at work by 6am and working 50-80 hour work weeks. In addition, I was traveling 1.5 hours each way to see my mom every other weekend from 2009-2012 while her health gradually failed. Also, my wife and I didn't have the use of a DVR until late 2014.
Sadly, no one has the full series of shows posted. CBS All Access used to have them posted, but it is my understanding once the contract with David Letterman expired in 2015, so did CBS's contract with the TTLS with Craig Ferguson (I believe Letterman produced that version of the show and now owns the rights). You can snag some of the shows on Youtube, but some are choppy, some are disappearing by the day, and many are just not there.
Sort of an odd feeling to have found this show, only to find I am severely limited in what I can view. I don't think full seasons of nightly talk shows end up on DVD/Blu-ray. There are just too many shows, and it would require a lot of discs and/or a lot of video compression. Maybe someday they will show up in syndication or posted on a website where you are required to purchase a subscription, like CBS All Access.
For someone now retired and who usually didn't watch much TV over the years, I am not sure why I care that much. But I have enjoyed what episodes I have found so far. A strange and quirky show with Craig Ferguson. It's probably because unlike most late-night hosts, Craig didn't seem to try and mimic the style of Johnny Carson.
