It seems that all ?? of the sites that books are stored on now force you to install browser add-ons that hijack your setting before you can get any download. Are there any that do not ? I also wonder if the uploaders care ?

Use Firefox on a Linux CD or USB stick installation.

The worst I have to deal with are the ones that keep opening new tabs to scam sites. Editing the /etc/hosts file on my computer to block those scam sites is easy and a permanent solution. Most don't even get that far.

I just use Firefox with an ad blocker and never have any problems.
Are you perhaps clicking on one of those false download buttons that are everywhere?
