Raymond L. Weil had recently joined a list of authors who's entire bibliography was completely read by myself, with one remaining novel in his "Forgotten Empire" series soon to be published.
He had been stricken with end stage renal disease recently but got a transplant in October and was doing well, until he suddenly died unexpectedly at the end of that month.
Surprising, as transplant recipients usually last a few years at least, but sometimes it does happen that they go into rejection and fade away quickly - as well I know having been the Medical Advocate for one for the past 16 years now.
A sad loss for the military science fiction fan universe.
R.I.P. Mr. Weil, and continue to fight the good fight wherever in the next universe you ended up.

At the moment I’d say it has to be Blake Crouch. Just recently read ‘Recursion,’ ‘Dark Matter’ and the ‘Wayward Pines’ books. Absolutely incredible books.

This is an incredibly hard question to answer but I'll have to go with Naomi Novik. I loved the Temeraire series and deicded to give her next books a shot. They were in a very difference setting and I loved them!

This will show my age but I discovered John D MacDonald when I purchased a paperback of his at Miami International Airport in 1988 . His Travis McGee series is the precursor to Lee Childs "Jack Reacher" series.
