M$' official response to the jailbreak:
We anticipated that people would attempt to unlock the phones and explore the underlying operating system. We encourage people to use their Windows Phone as supplied by the manufacturer to ensure the best possible user experience. Attempting to unlock a device could void the warranty, disable phone functionality, interrupt access to Windows Phone 7 services or render the phone permanently unusable.

First of all:
I do NOT take responsibility for anything!!! Do anything on your OWN risk!

Ingreedients:
  • A Windows-based PC, minimum: Windows XP SP2
  • THIS
  • Zune, and of course a Windows Phone 7 device ;)

Preparation:
  • Make sure you don't have anything running on port 443. Close Skype and Trillian.
  • Make sure you have a FULL SYNC relationship, NOT just a GUEST
  • Make sure, your phone ISN'T PIN locked
  • Certificate install:
    • Download THIS to your computer.
    • Attach ChevronWP7.cer to an email, and send to an account associated with your Windows Phone.
    • On the phone click on the attachment, and then install.

The process itself:
Ok. So first open up the donwloaded ChevronWP7.exe file. May need to run as an administrator, if you're on Vista or 7.

You should see something like this:
Image
Make sure you have completed the steps above!!!

Then check the 2 checkboxes, as we already done them.

Ok, now come the tricky part. Cross-fingers, and hit the "Unlock" button.

That's it, if you're lucky you made it :) My congratulations ;)

There is a reg hack to top your phone from re-locking aswell as a solution to the prob with chevron not been able to unlock.

All the info you need is on XDA-developers, unfortunatley forum is down at the min but should be back soon.

Hi
With the announcement from M$ that the chevron hole will be patched in the March update, should we wait to do this?

I just bought a WP7 and want to use some of this stuff, but I'd hate to see my phone bricked in a couple weeks. Thoughts on the subject? Should I (we) wait for a Chevron alternative?
Thanks
Dan

I updated my phone with NoDo , now it's locked , is there a way to unlock it now without downgrading it to the previous 7004 ?

Nope. If you're patient there will be a way in future. NoDo includes a block on Chevron unlock. While it is still there then No Can Do.

If you don't want to wait, then you will need to find a stock ROM for your phone/carrier that has firmware 7004 (or 7008, which is the pre-NoDo update)

If you have a LG Phone you don't need Chevron.

Call ##634# (##MFG#) it will install an application called MFG

How to Un-Lock your Phone without Chevron 7

1.Open the MFG app and use the password to open it. If you don't know it's 277634#*# (appmfg#*#)
2.Go to Engineer Menu -> Other Settings -> Edit Registry
3.Set your ROOT PATH to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
4.Set your input path to "\Comm\Security\LVMod"
5.Set your input key to "DeveloperUnlockState" and set to DWORD
6.Hit Query. Output result should return a "0" or a random long number. If it does continue.
7.Set your input data box to "1" and hit SET. Output result should be 1

How To Keep Your Phone Unlocked

You can keep your phone unlocked and prevent Zune from re-locking it.
1.Open the MFG app and use the password to open it. If you don't know it's 277634#*# (appmfg#*#)
2.Go to Engineer Menu -> Other Settings -> Edit Registry
3.Set your ROOT PATH to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
4.Set your input path to "\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg"
5.Set your input key to "PortalUrlProd" and set to DWORD
6.Hit Query. Output result should return data. If it does continue.
7.Keep your input data box empty and hit SET. Output result should be 0
8.Keep this screen open and continue to Part 2

Part 2
1.Set your ROOT PATH to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
2.Set your input path to "\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg"
3.Set your input key to "PortalUrlInt" and set to DWORD
4.Hit Query. Output result should return data. If it does continue.
5.Keep your input data box empty and hit SET. Output result should be 0
6.Backout to the password screen and shutdown the phone via powerbutton.
7.Reboot and sync. Your phone should stay unlocked.

How to Re-Lock your Phone without Chevron 7

Don't want your phone unlocked anymore? You can re-lock the phone by using the MFG registry editor.

1.Open the MFG app and use the password to open it. If you don't know it's 277634#*# (appmfg#*#)
2.Go to Engineer Menu -> Other Settings -> Edit Registry
3.Set your ROOT PATH to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
4.Set your input path to "\Comm\Security\LVMod"
5.Set your input key to "DeveloperUnlockState" and set to DWORD
6.Hit Query. Output result should return a "1". If it does continue.
7.Set your input data box to "0" and hit SET. Output result should be 0
8.Your phone is now locked. To Unlock the phone redo the above steps but set back to "1"
