Anne Bishop's new book Wild Country dropped today, and I've already finished it. Four out of five stars, definitely recommended for fans who like her Others series. :)

It was a pleasant surprise to see Alice Sheldon (who mainly wrote as James Tiptree Jr.) getting notice. She is a very underrated author and this attention is duly deserved.

Hmm...that's tough, I have to admit that's tough, But for ones off the tip of my skull, I'd go for:

A.C Doyle: The Hound of the Baskervilles
Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express and
J.R.R Tolkien: The Lord of the Rings

This time I'm going to do a "The most atrocious book you never finished and literally threw out your bedroom window." The winner is...L. Ron Hubbard's "Battlefield Earth" by a loonngg margin.

Oh, we're doing terrible books now? Muahahahahahaha!

I nominate Linda Howard's Raintree: Inferno from 2007. A throwback to the old-school rapey 'romances' in all the worst ways. It ticked me off so much that I haven't read anything new she's written since then.

I forgot to mention that, quite literally, when I (there's six Yellow Rosellas squabbling outside my window over the seed I put out each morning) remembered to go out and get Hubbard's book that it was soggy, mouldy, and had fungus growing on it. I left it there for the fungus and mould to finish off.

Link to a photo of the Yellow Rosella if you want to see what they look like.

Loretta Chase's Lord of Scoundrels. This was the first book of hers I read, and it made me her devoted fan. :) Once of the few romances that gives equal weight to the hero's point of view.

Asterix (any of them) by Goscinny and Uderzo. The film versions, however, are getting worser and worserer.

Witch of the Federation, Vol. 1 by Michael Anderle. It's slow to get started, but the world building is great! I also like the development of Burt through the book. :)
