Has anyone had to split their ebook library due to lack of space? If so, what did you choose to split off and what storage are you using?

Please, no posts saying, "Just get a new hard drive".

I haven't had to split it yet, but I'm sure the day is coming. I guess I'd sort the books by date last accessed and put the oldest ones on a giant flash drive. That way I can keep them handy if the urge to read one hits. :)

I was going to go with Fiction and Non-Fiction and Comics, but then I also have Cookbooks/Health/Beauty/Home and Garden - which crosses over with Non-Fiction. Tags are great, but they require forethought to assign and use. Also, I rarely think, "Gee, I'd like to read some Non-Fiction". I like scrolling thru and having something catch my eye.

Decisions, decisions....

Anyone else?

I split my collection into two external drives:

1tb drive for books and magazines sorted by genres. Barely used 150 gig so far.
2tb drive for comics sorted by publishers. Maybe 500 gig spare.

Now I have a Miranda sitting on the window ledge outside trying to peer over the top of the monitor to let me know that she's there.

I’m really to lazy to organise my files into any order whatsoever.
I do keep my comics organised but my epubs are damn mess, all fantasy, Sci-Fi and even cook books all mixed together, I just don’t have the will power to sort them.

Do read your books and delete them, or send them to your circle jerks. Maybe I`m too old but the last thing I wanna do is to organize my ebook collection and then forget to read them.

I've split my library into:-

1) Audio books (external hard drive 2TB)
2) Magazines (usb 128gb)
3) all other ebooks (fiction & non fiction)

every now and then I have a purge and delete anything where my interests have changed or I find that the author/subject no longer interests me (I'm down to approx. 8600 ebooks lol )

Purge? Delete?
{pauses to hyperventilate}

Seriously, though, I think I'll have to start with that.

Based on the responses, it sounds like a lot of us don't organize beyond a basic system.

Topic is still open, but thank you all for your input!
