I’ve seen numerous lists of people’s favourite authors or most popular book series, but which are your least favourite or those you just avoid altogether?
Here are a few of mine:
Orson Scott Card
Dan Brown
James Patterson
Piers Anthony

Graham McNeill is one my least favourite. He tends to write in part of multi author series I read, and I find his pacing poor, his character development patchy and I am always left wondering why he includes so many dead end characters. Come to think of it I don’t like George RR Martin for the same reasons

L. Ron Hubbard is always at the top of my avoid list.

I won't say least favourite author but more like "wont read anything from him anymore" , and that would be Orson Scott Card. And then not because he writes bad or writes bad books, but because of his political views. After i found out what he really stands for personally, i dumped all his books in the trash (they where paper ones).

Don Pendleton. Started the Mack Bolan series, and I only made it one book in before writing the whole thing off. Very misogynistic and one-dimensional in my opinion.

I love crappy 70’s men’s adventure novels, got to admit they are best read sparingly though. Plus it’s best if you leave your brain at page 1, their depiction of women is questionable to say the least.

I've decided to add George R R Martin and David Gerrold to my list of least favourite authors. Martin because of the bloody awful overblown, bloated and drraaggeedd out A Song of Ice and Fire series. I still cannot get past page 26 of the first book even after 28 years and have just given up. David Gerrold because he's been promising the fifth (and now sixth) volume of his War Against the Chtorr series for thirty odd years and still counting.

I used to love her books in my early 20's when I had very little life experience. In my thirties I tried to read one of my old favorites and just got really ticked off. I tried two other titles and they were worse. I wound up taking all of the books to a used bookstore and getting credit to spend on better books.

Not sure I really keep track of the bad ones, but in recent memory 2 come to mind.

Jake Tapper - the first book in a loooong time that I didn't even bother to finish reading. Right back to the library.
Cara Black - French murder mysteries - plot wasn't bad, but the writing left me cold. Too much product placement, like I imagine what looking at social media inluencers must be like.
