That's interesting.. how much stuff is available in overdrive? KU books, KDP, only if author says yes?
At this moment it's only KU that can no longer be downloaded but with all the changes that just happened I would be willing to bet that in the next year another round of changes happens and they will remove any ability to download books. Thats going to suck as I will probabaly just stop using amazon for books. I have refused to pay money for ebooks unless I have the ability to download and remove drm so that I can't be abandoned however it might happen. It was nice to download KU books but I'm not going to kick to much. plus eventually someone will figure out kfx and importing from device to calibre again. However I have over 4000 paid for books in my account. I have downloaded all of them but I won't continue purchasing them at all if I cant download and keep a copy regardless.

Overdrive is where libraries "purchase" ebooks. They have a huge selection, but each library chooses what to add to their collection, meaning just because it's on OD doesn't mean your local lib will have it. Also, you cannot borrow directly from OD - only thru a library. IF this has changed, someone will surely post a rebuttal. Some users have accounts at multiple libs, so putting the OD link in a request is a good idea.

So far, purchased ebooks can still be downloaded. I have. But, yes, there is some speculation that Amzn will drop that option for purchases. I don't know if they have for library books yet. I haven't tried it.

I read somewhere that someone was still able to download epub versions from overdrive that were supposedly amazon books. I'm assuming (probably going to get bit in ass for doing so) that licensing from amazon for library is that they can provide downloads in non amazon formats. Though I keep hearing that amazon will support epubs on kindles before long? very uncertain of that rumor.

I have not yet seen books in epub available from Amzn. I just borrowed an epub from my local library which was fulfilled and opened in ADE, not thru Amzn AFAIK.

Epubs can be send to Kindle using either the Send to Kindle app or their web site:
https://www.amazon.com/sendtokindle?&li ... s_li_ss_tl

It'll show up as a document. Some have complained about the result, but then there's always a complaint from someone, right? I haven't had any issues with this on my PW2.

Progress is being made, but not within Calibre. Yet.

I bought a book from Amazon on Feb 7, 2023 (as the author has requested that Mobilism not post his books) and couldn't do anything with it via Calibre. As someone who likes to own what I buy, Amazon's latest moves upset me.

What intrigues me is that though Amazon has changed their DRM game again, new releases are still coming from somewhere. So, someone has figured out something.
Will be keeping an eye on this thread for whatever progress gets made. Hopefully between here and Mobilereads someone comes up with something.

That might as well be in a foreign language for me, I didn’t understand any of it Lol
Will give it a go though, I guess it’s just trial and error, thanks for sharing the update and hopefully soon a simpler method will be available.

Can I please beg someone to make a step by step guide how to make this work!! I don't understand half of it and the other half makes my head all bonkers.

I must be as thick headed as you Lol, I’ll be screwed if I can get the damn thing to work.

An easy explanation for a 5 year old would be greatly appreciated :D

Make your posts at the site in the link above. Read the posts first! I and a few others asked some stupid questions; learn from our mistakes. :)
Detailed de-DRM instructions are not usually acceptable here or at mobilread. Yes, a few may get thru but in general it's frowned upon by the mods and site owners.
