Image Bridge.

Contract bridge, usually known simply as bridge, is a trick-taking card game of skill and chance (the relative proportions depending on the variant played). It is played by four players who form two partnerships; the partners sit opposite each other at a table. The game consists of the auction (often called bidding) and play, after which the hand is scored.

Image Euchre.

Euchre is a trick-taking card game most commonly played with four people in two partnerships with a deck of 24 standard playing cards. It is the game responsible for introducing the Joker card into modern packs; this was invented around 1860 to act as a top trump or best bower (from the German word Bauer, "farmer", denoting also the Jack). It is believed to be closely related to the French game Écarté that was popularized in the United States by the Pennsylvania Dutch, and to the seventeenth-century game of bad repute Loo. It may be sometimes referred as "Knock Euchre" to distinguish it from Bid Euchre.

Image Card games.

A card game is any game using playing cards as the primary things with which the game is played, be they traditional or game-specific. Countless card games exist, including families of related games (such as poker). Some games have formally standardized rules, while rules for others can vary by region, culture, and person. These are the different types of card games, that can be played on the PPC:

- Trick-taking games
.
The object of a trick-taking game is based on the play of multiple rounds, or tricks, in each of which each player plays a single card from their hand, and based on the values of played cards one player wins or "takes" the trick. The specific object varies with each game and can include taking as many tricks as possible, taking as many scoring cards (or as few penalty cards) within the tricks won as possible, taking as few tricks as possible, or taking an exact number of tricks. Popular examples are:
.

  • Euchre - SiMiLaR list ---> here
  • Spades- SiMiLaR list ---> here
  • Hearts - SiMiLaR list ---> here

- Matching games
.
The object of Rummy, and various other melding or matching games, is to acquire the required groups of matching cards before an opponent can do so. In Rummy, this is done through drawing and discarding, and the groups are called melds. Mah-Jongg is a very similar game played with tiles instead of cards. Non-Rummy examples of match-type games generally fall into the "fishing" genre and include the children's games Go Fish and Old Maid.
.

- Solitaire (Patience) games
.
Solitaire games are designed to be played by one player. Most games begin with a specific layout of cards, called a tableau, and the object is then either to construct a more elaborate final layout, or to clear the tableau and/or the draw pile or stock by moving all cards to one or more "discard" or "foundation" piles.

- Casino or gambling card games
.
These games revolve around wagers of money. Though virtually any game in which there are winning and losing outcomes can be wagered on, these games are specifically designed to make the betting process a strategic part of the game. Some of these games involve players betting against each other, such as poker, while in others, like blackjack, players wager against the house.

  • Black Jack card games ---> here

- Multi-genre games
.
Many multi-genre games involve different stages of play for each hand. The most common multi-stage combination is a "trick-and-meld" game, such as Pinochle or Belote. Other multi-stage, multi-genre games include Poke, Skitgubbe and Tichu. Vici is an example of a multi-genre card game which combines elements of 5-card hands and bluffing techniques from poker, with gathering and matching strategies from rummy and certain partnering aspects from bridge.

Image Spot!

In "Spot" games you have to compare two seemingly identical pictures in each Picture Level in order to spot the differences between them. It tests and pushes the powers of your observation to the limits. The sometimes 'arcade-style' approach in these games is as fun and visually exciting as it is challenging in concept, mostly you won't want to put it down until you've spotted all the differences.

Are you game for a good time? Then try these releases on PPCwarez:

Image Virtual life.

Digital pets are distinct in that they have no concrete physical form other than the hardware they run on. Interaction with virtual pets may or may not be goal oriented. If it is, then the user must keep it alive as long as possible and often help it to grow into higher forms. Keeping the pet alive and growing often requires 'feeding', grooming and playing with the pet. If the interaction is not goal oriented, the user can explore the character of the pet and enjoy the feeling of building a relationship with it. Often these games use realistic visual effects or interaction to make the pet appear alive and give a sense of reality to users.

With these programs, released on PPCwarez, you can add virtual life to your PPC:

  • Kyototicha v1.02 beta is a funny Game, play along the days with your virtual friend TICHA, make him happy and healthly, then he will grow and build a familly cat...Thema is Japan, you will discover Fuji Mountain, Shinkansen train, Kyoto temple and shrine, Geisha playing music, Chinese bots...

Image Sound Test Files.

Description:
Some sound files in WMA format to help you calibrate your headphone, loudspeaker, Hi-Fi and related audio equipment.

" ever_rising1.wma" and " freq_sweep.wma" consists of a tone that increase in pitch endlessly. The harmonics are designed to fade in from the bottom and fade out at high pitch. It is the equivalent of the visual ever rising staircase. An audio perception paradox. Its application is in the checking of audio equipment frequency response. As the harmonic peaks sweep through the spectrum, you can see the locations of resonant peaks. A peak profiling line that holds the most recent spectral peaks for more than 3 seconds will give a stable peaking envelop which is the frequency response curve of the loudspeaker system.

" intermodulation.wma" consists of two sine waves of 1KHz and 1.1KHz. If the amplitude response of the loudspeaker system is perfectly linear and there is no saturation or amplitude distortion in any part of the system, then there are only spectral peaks at 1KHz and 1.1KHz. Other wise, you will find other spectral peaks, notably at 1-n*0.1KHz, 1.1+n*0.1KHz, 2.1KHz, 2.1+/-0.1KHz, +/-0.2KHz etc..

" sine_all5k2.wma" consists of sine waves of 1KHz, 2KHz, 3KHz, 4KHz and 5KHz having same amplitude. Under ideal condition, they should create 5 equal spaced spectral peaks in an audio spectrum analyzer. For the overall system having flat response, the 5 peaks should have the same height. If it does not, the problem may be due to one or more of the pocketPC output, any external amplifier, speaker, microphone, signal amplifier, and analogue to digital converter. It is also possible for one part in the system to compensate for imperfection in another part, such as the equalizer or equalizing amplifier.

" square.wma" is a simple 100Hz pulse. It can be used to see the step response of the overall system. A stable triggering of the waveform is needed.

To use the files, select it in a MediaPlayer - (list here). Also select looping or repeating mode of playback. Then you can begin to play the sound file. Most players create an artificial silent time between repetitions. The ears can detect this easily. But the program can skip over the silent period if we choose the long-time average mode. For accurate frequency measurement, the narrow band analysis should be used. However, the wider shape of spectral peaks for wide band analysis makes peaks easy to identify and measure.

Normally, you will connect your earphone output to the audio equipment under test. Then you bring the pocketPC near the speaker of the system, and run a spectrum or spectrogram display program - (list here) - while the Media or MP3 Player is running in the background. Some Media Players may not be able to produce continuous sound even within the time span of the sound file, which cannot be used.

All sound test files consist of stable pitch tones. They create concentrated spectral energy far above the background white noise level. Therefore, accurate measurements can be made without special noise control. For measurements with fixed pitch tones, long time averaging can be used to provide a very stable spectrum display and provides further noise rejection. A good real-time spectrum analyzer like the HandDee-SA makes this possible.

  1. All .wma files are RS links.
  2. If preferred, here is a .RAR file with the five sound files in mp3-format.

Image Mobile HEX Editors.

A hex editor (or binary file editor or byte editor) is a type of computer program that allows a user to manipulate binary (normally non-plain text) computer files. Hex editors that were designed to edit sector, or parse, data from floppy or hard disks were sometimes called sector editors or disk editors. With these programs, released on PPCwarez, you can do that on your mobile:
