But then he meets Clarissa. Not only is she a witch, she’s a local investigative journalist, and—amazingly—she can understand what he says too.
Finally, he’s found somebody who believes his story.
Can Clarissa save Toby? Will they identify who killed his owner and why?
And will Toby ever eat his fill of sammiches?
2. A Curse, a Coven and a Canine - Toby dog can smell death.
When someone assaults his elderly neighbour and leaves her for dead, Spellbound Hound Toby is devastated.
For one thing, he’s worried who’ll keep him in cheesy dog treats now, but more than that, all indications are that Miranda Dervish—also known as The Pointy Woman—is behind this latest atrocity.
The woman who murdered Old Joe AND hexed Toby is back!
Together with his human, the journalist Clarissa Page, Toby sets out to investigate Miranda.
What is it she wanted from the neighbour?
Scarily, as they begin to uncover Miranda’s mysterious past, her evil behaviour begins to escalate and Clarissa finds her own existence under attack.
In a race against time, Toby and Clarissa have the odds stacked against them, but assistance comes from some rather eccentric allies in the form of The Blackdown Hills Squirrel Community, and a witch… who lives in a hedge.
3. Bark Side of the Moon - The Pointy Woman gave him a voice. Now she wants to shut him up. Permanently.
Would-be investigative journalist, Clarissa Page, and her sammich-obsessed spellbound hound, Toby, are making little headway in their hunt for the nasty witch, Miranda Dervish. And they’re having no luck finding the magickal Four Stone either.
No matter which way they turn, who they ask, or where they search, they’re thwarted.
Down to their last few pence, an anonymous tip off and a chance encounter with a stranger in the park sets them on their way to a dramatic final showdown. On the way, they’ll have to work out just who is friend… and who is foe.
4. Master of Puppies - Yip! Yip! Yoo-ray! Toby’s back for a new adventure!
It’s not everyday that a dog launches his own criminal investigation.
But Toby’s not an everyday kind of dog.
When he’s alerted to a local case of puppynapping, Toby tries to get his humans to take action. Unfortunately, the local police aren’t overly concerned about one missing pooch, and Clarissa, Toby’s witch owner, is rather preoccupied with her new job and an ex-boyfriend.
When one missing puppy becomes two … and then three and four … Toby recognises the need for urgent action.
What could a crotchety old wizard possibly want with so many puppies? Nothing good, that’s for certain.
Fortunately Toby, who can turn a paw to most things, has a trick or two up his hairy sleeves. With the help of a few friends—old and new—he hares off on a new escapade without properly considering the consequences.
Can Toby rescue the puppies? Or will he and his friends find themselves in deep doggy doo-doo?
Par for the course when you’re a spellbound hound!
5. Dem Bones, Dem Bones - Toby, a schnauzer-collie-whippet-terrier-thingie, is not averse to gnawing on a chunky bone ...
But even he draws the line when it's a knee bone … connected to the thigh bone ... of a zombie!
When a zombie infection begins to spread around town, anyone with half a brain would stay indoors. Right? But Toby, a dog with a brain the size of a small planet, has been summoned to assist a Yorkshire terrier friend whose owner appears to be the source of the outbreak. Toby can’t turn his back on an old mate, even if that means putting his own favourite human at risk of infection.
Toby and Clarissa have their work cut out if they want to prevent the multiplication of zombies while simultaneously nipping a sudden stench of corruption in the bud!
7. Up, Pup and Away - Toby's been building up quite a reputation for himself.
Well, he likes to think so.
It's therefore no surprise that when things go wrong for any of his canine friends, he’s called in to help them out. But this time, it’s Toby who needs assistance.
The Pointy Woman is back and our talented spellbound hound has a bone to pick with her!
The problem is, first he has to find a way to get to her. Cue a helpful fox, a plucky hedgehog, a ‘bithycle’ made for one, a balloon ride never to be forgotten and the usual shenanigans.
But when the fun and games are over, it’s time to get serious.
Deadly serious.
