Just out of curiosity, if I am in the US, can I use a proxy to purchase an e-book from a foreign Amazon site, and if so, how?
I want this:

I cannot get the Kindle version here in the US, nor is it available in Canada.
Is it possible, then to get it from somewhere else?

Don`t know about purchasing from out of the country, but you could request the book here on Mobilism and use your WRZ.
