I am looking for books in the style of Hercules Poirot and Miss Marple by Agatha Christie. The stories should be set in a time period around 1910-1940..

Greatfull for suggestions! :)

Hi,

Not sure, but maybe these might be something for you:

1- Father Brown series by G.K Chesterton. Has also been adapted to a TV series.

2- Nero Wolfe series by Rex Stout . Has also been adapted to TV series.

An older series that I really love is by Elizabeth Peters, about Amelia Peabody. The time frame is a bit older: last decade of 1800s into 1900's. Very good mysteries, with an archaeological theme. Here is a link to a bio: https://www.fantasticfiction.com/p/elizabeth-peters/

A series by Rhys Bowen, Molly Murphy, is turn-of-the-century New York, mysteries and police procedurals. Bio link: https://www.fantasticfiction.com/b/rhys-bowen/

Series by Jacqueline Winspear, about Maisie Dobbs, is 1920s, and Maisie has set herself up as a private detective. Bio link: https://www.fantasticfiction.com/w/jacqueline-winspear/

Good reading!

You may wish to try the Lord Peter Wimsey books by Dorothy L. Sayers. They are mystery/crime novels set in the post WWI period. I discovered Dorothy L. Sayers and Agatha Christie in my high school years and loved them.

While I got into them via the (excellent) TV show, the books are on the Agatha Christie scale of well-written.

Dorothy L. Sayers is an excellent suggestion. I recommend A Gentleman's Murder by Christopher Huang, and M.R.C. Kasasian's work.

Kasasian's Betty Church series (starting with Betty Church and the Suffolk Vampire) takes place in 1939-1940 so far, and his Sidney Grice series (starting with The Mangle Street Murders) is set in the 1880s.
