Assuming you are talking about his Jack Reacher protagonist, i would reccomend Killing Floor published in February 1997. Killing Floor was his first book in the Jack Reacher series.

Killing Floor is a good point to start. But IMO, his best works are The Hard Way and Persuader. I never bothered with chronology with this series. Almost every book feels like a stand-alone.

Lucky you, you have the whole series ahead of you. Although each story is a stand alone, the later books kind of refer to him as being old or slowing down. And other books have characters from previous books like his sidekick from the Army days. So I would suggest to read them chronologically. Plus you get to see the improvements in Lee Child's writings with each book.

I'm in love with Lee Child's Jack Reacher Novels!! I've read about 4 in the past few months (Worth Dying For (4.5/5), Gone Tomorrow (4/5), The Hard Way (4/5), Killing Floor (3.5/5)). The writing is much better in the subsequent novels (even Reacher's character develops over time). There are only a few books rated above 4 on Goodreads. Have you guys read all the books in the series?

I started reading the Reacher series YEARS ago. Last month I have finally caught up and have now read all of them (minus a couple of the short stories). Some are better than others, depending one what in particular you enjoy about his character
